Objectives

Materials

In this lesson, students will be audibly introduced to Trepak,


Improvise alternate rhythmic patterns within Bow Wow Wow,
Review Alabama Gal, and visually introduce Here Comes A Blue
Bird.

Procedure
In this lesson, the visual map of Trepak will be on the board, and
the excerpt will be playing.

S will adhere to classroom expectation, and point to each


symbol on board, and gently whisper pop at the end.
Transition: pat thighs at same tempo of Trepak and chant S
face the piano, and S will change direction of focus. T will
whisper Bow.
S will review Bow Wow Wow, singing.
T: With a quiet hand, will someone raise their hand to
write the Ta/Ta Dis on the white board. S: writes rhythmic
dictation of BWW.
T sings the following songs and hands marker to new
students, for them to write the dictation:
a. Knock
b. Button
c. Rocky
T hands out worksheet with 4 measures, 4 beats each.
a. T: Write the rhythmic dictation of BWW but leave
phrase 3 blank. Insert the 1st phrase of either a-c in
place of phrase 3.
T: Stand up, and walk around in a circle, Move your feet to
the beat and begin singing Alabama Gal. (as they pass the
teacher, they pass in the worksheet and pencil). As they
have all turned in the assignments, S will review AG again.
a. T will arrange class in 2 circles.
i. 1st circle: AG
ii. 2nd circle: Whos That?
1. This introduces singing in Harmony
with a partner song.
T now join hands, and make ONE big happy circle, march to
new tempo
a. T sings Wishy Washy
b. Instructions: now instead of everyone matching with
a partner, we will all sing, and only TWO students will
do the pirate dance in the middle of the circle.

The evaluation will happen
simultaneously with the
activity: students unable to
keep the beat will need
additional attention. Use the
phrase: Check with your
neighbor to make sure youre
keeping the beat.
