Procedure
The lesson will first begin with the following warm ups:
1. Students will pick up warm up, and answer in complete
sentence.
2. T will review answers, when complete.
3. After review, students will put away warm up in folders, and
assume position one.
4. Review Target Position: Soft Pallet Raised
Following the worksheet, the sequenced warm ups and physical
activities will include:
1. Forbidden Pattern (SFM), in which T will solfege and model a
variety of solfege intervals, and students will correctly model
back with the exception of the established forbidden pattern.
2. Follow the Hand, in which the key will be established, and T
will sign solfege, and S will sing and sign the appropriate
pitch and hand sign.
3. Straight Forward Scale (DRMFSLTD TLSFMRD)
4. Gimme One: an established physical rhythmic pattern that
includes clapping and beating patterns on legs.
The Sight Reading Excerpt will be introduced in the following ways
1. T will project excerpt exercises on Elmo
2. Review first rule of Do: It can be anywhere
3. Establish where Do is.
4. While pointing to each note, and reinforcing rhythm, ask S to
sign the solfege.
5. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for every note in the exercise.
6. When done, give pitch for Do. Ask S to audiate.
7. Audiate excerpt.
8. Then, S will sing excerpt.
Thina Sonke
1. Review Call & Response
2. T sings Soprano Chorus in 2 mm. phrases, S echo.
a. Continue till entire chorus is learned.
3. T sings Alto Chorus in 2 mm. phrases, S echo.
a. Continue till entire chorus is learned.
4. Students demonstrate on understanding level by singing
entire chorus of Thina Sonke, in two parts, with assistance
from T if necessary.

In the duration of the lesson

with the following evaluation
technique:
4 as highest- 1 as lowest
Fingers underneath chin
During the warm up, students
will raise their hands and
share their answers.
Students will then look to
their neighbor, and ensure
their answers matches their
response.
