Our vision is to ensure that our students are provided
multiple opportunities to engage in activities that will allow
them to make connections to real-life situations as they
prepare to transition into a global market place.

School Goals:
Develop, implement, and support new plans and/or
programs that focus on student-centered learning,
higher-order thinking, and problem solving in the
classroom.
Advance innovative ways to engage the community and
parents in the educational process.
Enhance existing programs to further develop college
and career paths from kindergarten to twelfth grade.
Expand community service learning opportunities for
students and increase communication efforts with
community agencies.
Create a supportive environment that empowers the
faculty/staff
Increase strategic partnerships with businesses, post
secondary institutions, and community leaders to fully
integrate college and career paths
2015-2016 Ideas for Improvement:

I. Lloyd Elementary School will provide training to educate
the teachers, pupil services, personnel, principal, and other
staff in how to reach out to, communicate with, and work
with parents/community members as equal partners in
education. These trainings will take place during monthly
staff meetings and after school professional development
sessions.
II. An annual Title I information session and other flexible
scheduled meetings will be held throughout the school year.
These meetings will cover the following information:
o Title I Programs
o College and Career Ready Performance Index
o Parents right to know about Teacher and

Paraprofessional qualifications
o Parent Information Workshops & Parent
volunteering
o School policies and procedures
o School curriculum
o Student assessments
o Local and State assessments
o Common Core Georgia Performance Standards
(K12)
o Transitioning from Elementary to Middle School
III. Parents/community members will receive information
from our school in a timely manner. (Spanish translations
included) Lloyd Elementary will utilize the following
communication methods to provide parent with timely
information: Childs Tuesday folder (weekly communicator
sent home with grade papers and news of upcoming events),
monthly newsletters, marquee board, school website,
Remind 101, flyers and parent information board.
IV. Lloyd Elementary will build our parents capacity for
strong parental involvement. In order to ensure effective
involvement, we encourage all families to be education
partners in their childrens school success by:
o Inviting parents to attend all related upcoming
meetings
o Inviting parents to serve on committees such as
the School Council, School Improvement Team
Committee, and the PTA.
o Providing meetings held during the school day and
outside school hours. The upcoming dates and
times are listed below
o Visiting our Parent Resource Center located in the
counselor suite, Monday-Friday from 8:30am to
12:00pm or 12:30pm to 2pm where materials are
provided for check out. Various topics might
include child development, academic homework
strategies, self-help strategies, and multiple

games and books to increase student
achievement, parenting DVDs, pamphlets,
educational parenting workshops, English classes,
and computers available for parents use.
o Providing reasonable support such as childcare
during parenting workshops, meetings at different
locations- apartment complex clubhouses (ex: The
Villages on Green Acres Road).
V. Parents/Community members will be provided information
in advance of upcoming school events, performances, and
volunteer- opportunities. Examples include Sneak-a-peek,
Open House, Curriculum Night, Back to Football Friday,
Chick-fil-a night, Multicultural Events, Relay for Life
community talent show, Community hosted events, and
Fathers Being Involved Reading Program.
VI. Lloyd Elementary will continue to maintain respected
partnerships with the local community. Community
Sponsors/Partners in Education include:

o Vinings Lake Church
o Firehouse Subs
o Covered Bridge Church
o Cobb County Public Schools Foundation.
Our partners support our school by providing information
about opportunities for volunteers, matching grant funds,
annual monetary donations for students, staff incentives,
etc.
Lloyd Elementary has developed the following plan

describing how we will support the vital mission of including
the community and our parents in the educational process.
We intend to build the capacity for parent/community
involvement by implementing various strategies for
engagement.
