8. Miss Rossi will pull out a box of Band-Aids. She will explain to the students that she and Miss
Kim have written each of their names on a Band-Aid so that they can place them on the heart.
She will say, In a few minutes, while youre working on your worksheets, Miss Kim and I will
call you up table by table to put a Band-Aid on the heart. By placing your Band-Aid on the heart,
you will show people that you are committed to spreading kindness and healing hearts. While
Miss Rossi is explaining this to the students, Miss Kim will write I pledge to be a good friend
by spreading kindness and healing hearts in the center of the heart. Miss Rossi will call three
students up at a time to get their Band-Aids (which Miss Rossi will have already peeled the
backing off of) and place them on the heart which will be hanging on the easel.
9. Once all the students have placed their Band-Aids on the heart, Miss Rossi will say, Im
really proud of you all for committing to spreading kindness. In a few minutes, I am going to
give you a worksheet with a heart and a Band-Aid on it. On this worksheet, it says I will spread
kindness by I want you to think about all the ways we said you can spread kindness (points to
easel) and write down your favorite way to spread kindness on your worksheet.
10. Miss Rossi will dismiss students back to their seats.
11. Miss Rossi and Miss Kim will distribute the heart worksheets to all of the students. Teachers
will circulate to help students formulate their idea and/or spell words. Early finishers will be
instructed to draw a picture of their kindness strategy on the back of their worksheet. Students
will be told when they have five minutes left to work and 2 minutes left to work.
12. Closure: 5 minutes prior to the end of the period, Miss Kim will tell students to put their
pencils and crayons down so that they can share their worksheets. Miss Kim will call on
volunteers to share their kindness strategy and/or drawing. When the period is over, Miss Kim
and Miss Rossi will collect their worksheets and put them in each students mailbox for them to
take home.
