To, The HOD,

Department of History,
University of Delhi,
New Delhi

Dated: 31-Mar-2010

Subject: Request for the arrangement of all MA History classes be held in the UDSC
from the following session onwards.

Respected Sir/ Madam,

This is to request you on behalf of all the MA Previous History students, currently
enrolled at University of Delhi South Campus (UDSC), that our classes and
examinations (for all the papers of Sem III & IV for each of the specializations i.e.
Ancient India, Medieval India and Modern India) may please be held in the UDSC
only, from next semester onwards.

We are aware that from the coming session, some of our classes might be held at
the Faculty of Social Sciences in the North Campus. We wish to convey that we are
in full consensus regarding attending our classes only at our preferred centre of
choice, which is UDSC, and are unwilling to move to the North Campus.

Students enrolled in this course are mostly situated in and around South Delhi,
commuting regularly to North Campus will be unaffordable, both in terms of time and
money. Some of our colleagues reside in places as far as Gurgaon for whom
travelling to the North Campus would mean spending almost 5 hours on the road per
day, which is not justified. The UDSC is very convenient and acceptable to all.

We are also pleased to learn that our department has increased its strength to
include around 37 teaching faculty members, many of who reside in the south Delhi
region. We are in no doubt that the department can now afford to fulfil our plea to
arrange classes smoothly in the UDSC now onwards.

As far as campus facilities are concerned, our infrastructure, library and extra-
curricular facilities in the UDSC are well equipped without a doubt. Moreover we
cherish the peaceful environment that the campus provides. We do not wish to leave
the South Campus for our personal attachment to the place.

We request you to kindly consider our case, as it is a serious issue. We hope

to receive a positive response from you.

Thank you.

Yours Sincerely,
Students of MA Previous History, UDSC
