Studyoftheperceptual,psychological,andeducationalimplicationsof
hearingloss.Thecoursewillfocusonareassignificanttothe(re)habilitation
ofindividualswithhearingloss,suchasidentification,evaluation,
remediation,andcounseling.Prerequisites:SLPA24000.3credits.

Demonstrateknowledgeoftheimplicationsofhearinglossonan
individualsdailylife
Beabletoassesstheimpactofhearinglossonanindividual
Demonstrateknowledgeofmethodsdesignedtoreducethepsychosocial,
educational,vocational,andlinguisticeffectofhearingloss
Studentssuccessfullycompletingthiscourseshouldbeableto
demonstrate

knowledgeoftheprinciplesofsocial/behavioralsciences,basichuman
communicationprocesses,differentialdiagnosisofdisorders,andthe
impactofhearingimpairmentonspeechandlanguage.(Partially
fulfillsKASAStandards:IVB,IVC,IVD)
Note:youwillbeassessedonthesestudentlearningoutcomesperiodically
throughoutthesemester.Shouldyoureceiveascorebelowthe
acceptablegradeformeetingtheseoutcomes(<70%)itis
