PSI Final Report for. Mr. Tanner Berson
‘Schoo! Administrator Comments (Continued)
ASSESSMENT
‘Tanner showed a clear understanding of curriculum in the way he assessed students. Quizzes were given,
marked and then retumed to students. Tanner would review the quiz, and then allowed students to keep
the quiz. Tests in both of his courses were developed by the science department at LCI.
‘Tanner made sure his students had the opportunity to work through course content in a very formative
‘manner before moving to summative. Again, quizzes are part of summative assessment, but students
could replace scores when they scored better from subsequent tests.
RELATIONSHIPS WITH STUDENTS, STAFF, PARENTS AND COMMUNITY
MEMBERS
Tanner had the opportunity to participate in authentic Parent-Teacher Interviews. This experience is
invaluable knowing that his next stop is his own classroom, as he took responsibility forall conversations.
A piece that was always impressive regarding Tanner was his ability to connect to students and staff,
Tanner has a friendly personality. He took the time to attend a wide variety of student co-curricular and
extra-curricular activities that his students were involved in, Students notice that their teacher is around at
all these different events. These are the things that separate good teachers and great teachers. Tanner
takes pride in being there for his students.
PROFESSIONAL CHARACTERISTICS AND PROFESSIONAL LEARNING
An impressive part of Tanner being at LCI this semester, was that he was part of our school’s
Professional Development Committee. Tanner took the time to lead activities, certainly investing
additional time. Things like this do not go unnoticed, colleagues find value and notice the extra effort.
‘Tanner always conduets himself in a very professional manner. It will be exciting to see where his career
takes him. We wish him the very best.
