In my early childhood, animated movies had become the most important growth in my
life. The main animated film that I personally interested in and watched several times are
Tangled and Ratatouille. It contains few genres which are comedy, adventure and
musical. In addition, these two films that I had decided to compare their similarities are
related to humans and animals. The main similar plot in these two films are their
survivals, breaking the rules, obstacles happen and achieving goals.
Animated movies which contains comedy commonly catches the eye of viewers
especially for kids and teenagers. A frying pan is used by Rapunzel as a weapon in the
film, Tangled. In the first scene, Rapunzel used it to hit on Flynn Riders head when he
entered the tower with the stolen crown. To defend the palace guards and Maximus
(palace horse) in swords, Flynn uses the frying pan in the fight. Throughout the film,
frying pan act as a very effective and useful weapon for Flynn and had managed to save
his life for a certain period of time. In Ratatouille, for Linguini to act as a chef, Remy had
found a way to communicate with him. Remy had understood the way of Linguinis
cooking skills and planned to guide him by controlling his hair in order to give
instructions. Remy hid in Linguinis toque to avoid being noticed.
Besides that, characters in both Tangled and Ratatouille had experienced to break the
rules. For Tangled, Rapunzel dreamt to explore the world outside from an isolated tower
that she had been locked up since young by the witch- Gothel who kidnaps and raises
Rapunzel as her own daughter. Especially the ones that she wanted to discover was about
the source of floating lanterns that appears every year only on her birthday. Rapunzel did
asks Gothel for permission to leave the tower but Gothel refused because of the healing
powers in her long blond hair was too precious for a witch to retain her youth. Rapunzel
had requested special paints from Gothel as a birthday present. The next day, Gothel went
off to the city to fulfil her illegitimate daughters wish. Rapunzel had a deal with Flynn
Rider as he needs to lead the way to the floating lanterns in order for Rapunzel to return
the crown to him. During excursion, Flynn took Rapunzel to places to enjoy herself but
thats where problems arises. As for the movie Ratatouille, Remy- a mouse ran into the
kitchen to help out Linguini who spills the soup and attempts to recreate it. Remy had
transformed the pot of soup into something better and soon was caught by Linguini.
Next, there are few obstacles that happen in these two movies which made the characters
unable to achieve their goals. Flynn soon revealed his real name - Eugene Fitzherbert and
Rapunzel told him that she has glowing hair when she sings. During the journey,
Rapunzel did not manage to find where the floating lanterns are from because Eugene had
realised he forgotten to return the crown to the Stabbington brothers who soon he found
out they were situated on the shore. Eugene was hoping to get back Rapunzel but he end
up sailing away with the crown. Gothel appeared and forced Rapunzel to get back to her
usual life to avoid the world. In Ratatouille, Remy, friends and his families raid to the
kitchen for food but was being chased out by Linguini. Remy refused to listen his father
(Django), who told him to get rid of humans after showing him streets scenes with dead
rats, poison and traps. Django wanted to show his son Human hate rats. Skinner was
aiming to trap Remy after he left his father and ran away without noticed. Remy was later
rescued by Django and Emile. Instead of proceeding to his rats life, he returned to

Guesteaus restaurant and search for Linguini who still suffered to cook. Soon, Linguini
decided to apologize and reveals the truth to the staff about the little chef who had been
helping him for every recipes. Without further disagreements, staffs walked away in
disgust.
Next, the main aim of movies is to achieve goals. Rapunzel recognized the symbol of
the kingdom from the mural paintings in her room. She confronts Gothel after realizing
shes the long- lost princess of the kingdom for almost eighteen years. Eugene was
penalized and ready for an execution but was rescued by the team of fighters from the bar
called Snuggly Ducklings. He returned to the tower successfully for Rapunzel but was
injured by Gothel. Eugene slices off Rapunzels hair to damage the power which
transformed Gothels appearance into an old witch and cause her to fall off from the
tower. Eventually, Rapunzel did not totally lose her powers but tears healed the injuries
on Eugene. Rapunzel had finally found her real identity and met her real parents, the king
and queen, for the first time. As for Ratatouille, Django brought his friends to help his son
after the disappearance of the staffs. His father wanted to help his son because of Remys
determination. Nevertheless, to bring back Egos memories Remy had presented dishes
with similar recipe as his mothers cooking. On the next day, after Linguini revealed the
real chef who helped him, Ego wrote a review for the newspaper nothing less than the
finest chef in France and soon invested a new restaurant- La Ratatouille. Last but not
least, Remy had become the most famous and talented chef in France.
In conclusion, I enjoyed watching these two films but the ones that gave me the most
memories are Ratatouille. It influenced my thoughts towards a rat after watching this
film. From viewers perspective, rats causes diseases and it is an impossible fact that rats
can cook especially at a restaurant. From this animated film, Ive learned a quote Dont
judge a book by its cover. Believe in what you can do and not influenced by others
judgements.
