Civil disobedience has pushed are society/ world into progression. The act of Civil
Disobedience is where groups of our society dont agree with a certain decision/law. For
example the famous Martin Luther King with his acts against the law for the rights that
African Americans should have had. In acting on Civil Disobedience, there is that one
person to stand against a bad cause that will later create a supporting group behind it.
Back to Martins example many have stood up but not publically, therefore Martin was
the voice for those who were scared and gave confidence to those who thought they
couldnt. To this there are many cases of Civil Disobedience that have been the cause into
progressing our world by simply fighting wrong decisions that shouldnt be in effect.

The success of Civil Disobedience really relies on the number of those participated into
it. For an example, years back when poll tax were being used for slavery territory, a man
Henry D. Thoreu refused paying his taxes knowing the tax was being used for slavery
reasons. In this action he was punished with jail time, but this pushed others into going
against the wrong decisions such as the slavery. Now taking it to the works of Martin
Luther King who did a major impact towards African Americans having equal rights. He
was so successful for the way he spoke and had many on his side to fight and push

towards their goal. The main point to is success was for the large number of people he
was able to collect for the right cause.

Of course with fighting a major power such as the government etc, consequences will follow. As
those who had participated for a sit- in on anti-segregation in Maryland (1963). Those who
participated were given time in jail until this was later appealed in court. As in other examples
we can see this happen with Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, and Mahatma Gandhi who were all
given a consequence for their stand against wrong.
