iFixit Progress Report

Purpose
To develop Asus Zenbook UX32VD Repair and Troubleshoot Guides for the iFixit community.

Summary
Team Techy Titans is currently working in a timely and efficient manner. We have drafted and completed our Team
Proposal, Device Page, and Troubleshoot Guide for the Asus Zenbook UX32VD. Milestone 3 will begin on
October 22, 2015, and Milestone 4 is scheduled to begin on November 2nd.

Problems Encountered
Troubleshoot Guide:

Fan noise: In our research, we found that fan noise could be the fault of software issues and/or
overheating issues. No software updates were found to help control the fan from over heating or making
excessive noise. Nor were temperature control methods found.
Solution: We changed fan noise troubleshooting heading to Fan Problems and focuses on
broken fans or obstructed fans, which will lead us to offering a replacement guide for the
laptops fan.

Publishing Troubleshoot Guide:

When we attempted to publish our Troubleshoot Guide we were given the response, Wiki not found.
Solution: We emailed techwriting@ifixit.com about the problem and they replied: There
was an issue with a missing student content flag on your wiki that was preventing your
changes from being finalized.
We have since made sure to address the problem and are now including the student content
flag, as directed.

Substitution of Backlight Replacement Guide:

Removing the display panel proved to be more difficult than anticipated. The replacement involved
removing much more adhesive than we could manage.
Solution: Replaced Backlight Replacement Guide with RAM Replacement Guide

Completed Tasks

Our iFixit Proposal has been approved as of September 28th, 2015.

Device Page has been drafted and published.
Troubleshoot Guide has been drafted and published with the following topics:
My laptop wont turn on
My screen is not displaying properly
The touchpad is not responding
My laptop overheats or is making a loud buzzing noise
The webcam is not recording video
A team progress report to inform iFixit of completed tasks, team-specific problems encountered, and
remaining work to be drafted and submitted on October 22, 2015.

Current Work
Guide Preparation:
The pictures for the repair guides will be taken on October 22, 2015. The following are topics upon which our
guides will focus on:

Fan Replacement
Touchpad Replacement
Camera Replacement
Battery Replacement
RAM Replacement

Our five repair guides will be completed by the week of November 2nd.

Remaining Work
Peer Review (Milestone 4), will begin on the week of November 9th in order to complete final editing for our final
project.
