Luna,
Thank you so much for all of your contributions to camp this summer. It was truly a
pleasure having you on staff. You place a high value on relationships that is evident in
the way that you interact with campers, volunteers and staff alike; this focus on
relationship building is an asset which will undoubtedly serve you well in the future.
Indeed, one of your greatest strengths was your ability to form cohesive and cooperative
bonds with your junior counsellor. Not only did this ensure that campers had a better
experience, but it also meant that the volunteers benefited from your mentorship and
friendship. I hold you up as the model for what we want our staff/volunteer teams to look
like.
Your skills as a counsellor really grew over the course of the summer. While your
naturally empathetic personality leant itself well to working with diverse children from the
start, you consistently developed in your ability to respond effectively to the many
unexpected situations that daily camp life threw your way. You kept a good handle on
your cabin, and while a few campers tested your patience on occasion, you always
made sure to keep a calm and level head. Thank you for working hard to maintain high
levels of enthusiasm and excitement, even when you were not feeling that well.
I know that as you gained confidence and experience you began stepping up more as a
leader among staff. I think that if you were to return again next summer, you would be an
enormous asset in leading camp wide activities and sharing your positive personality
with all campers. Finding ways to take leadership initiative around camp would be an
area for continued growth.
I sincerely hope that you enjoyed your time at Camp Maskepetoon. I would strongly urge
you to consider returning to camp again next summer; wed be lucky to have you.
All the best on your education journey in Lethbridge.
