Evaluation:
In order for this lesson to be effective, students must participate and pay attention during the les
the students did not engage in the beginning of the lesson when they were asked to give ideas an
participate in the reading of the various acrostic poems, then the activity will not be as interestin
may not be understood. Secondly, during the writing of the acrostic poems, if the children chim

use a word from the word bank, and are able to write an acrostic poem, then we can conclude th
were actively listening and have successfully completed the activity.

Differentiation:
1. Use diagnostic assessments to determine student readiness. These assessments can be fo
informal. Teachers can give pre-tests, question students about their background knowled
use KWL charts (charts that ask students to identify what they already Know, what they
to know, and what they have Learned about a topic). This can be done very quickly by a
student a few questions; such as what is an acrostic poem? What should the topic of this
acrostic poem be?
2. The teacher will go and re-explain the activity to the child if he/she didnt understand.
