Air Pollution Hazards
Air pollution is a topic that is well unspoken of and that needs awareness brought upon it.
Gases, dust, fume, and odor in harmful amounts is what makes up air pollution. Air pollution
affects humans, animals, plants, and minerals. There are many different ways we can help
minimize and prevent the amount of pollution, to help save our environment. Air pollution is a
hazardous condition that brings up many concerns in todays society, at times it can be
very harmful to detect.
There are two ways to classify air pollution: visible air pollution and invisible air
pollution. The atmosphere is currently being destroyed by these sustainments. The imbalancing
of chemicals can be very harmful for survival. It is effecting our ozone layer which is slowly
depleting due to an increase in air pollution. The ozone layer is in the earths stratosphere that
absorbs most of the ultraviolet radiation reaching the Earth from the sun. This particular part of
the stratosphere can be a crucial element for the existence of the ecosystems. This is important
because too much radiation from the sun will burn and affect our skin which we need to survive.
The increase of gases in the atmosphere is known as global warming. Global warming
has been known to become one of the biggest threat and complication to overcome in this
environment. Global warming is an increase in the overall temperature of the earths atmosphere

that is attributed to greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the when the heat from the sun is
being trapped here on earth.
There are many different types of the causes of air pollution, which include the burning
of fossil fuels such as coal, petroleum, and other factory combustibles. These pollutants are
emitted into the air by cars, trucks, trains, and airplanes. Agricultural activities is also very
hazardous to the atmosphere, these activities comes from the use of insecticides, pesticides, and
fertilizers. Another big cause of air pollution is exhaust from factories and industries.
Manufacturing industries release enormous amounts of carbon monoxide and chemicals into the
air which depletes the quality of air.
There are many harmful effects that comes from these pollutants. There are some shortterm and long-term effects that harms the human body. The short-term effects includes irritation
to the eyes, nose, and throat, others include headaches, nausea, and allergic reactions. Also upper
respiratory infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia can occur. The long-term effects of air
pollution includes chronic respiratory disease, lung cancer, heart disease, and even damage to the
brain, nerves, or kidneys. These effects are extremely aggravating and harmful to individuals
who suffers from asthma and emphysema medical conditions.
There are many ways we can help prevent and reduce the amount of chemicals being
released into the air. These ways include carpooling to help eliminate the amount of fumes being
produced off from the exhaust engines. We can recycle and reuse things to help factory pollution,
and doing so these factories wouldnt have to make large quantities of productions to help keep
up with the supply and demand aspects. We can use proper chemicals when fertilizing land,
using ecofriendly sprays will help toxins from being released into the air. Saving electricity can

also contribute because we wouldnt have to burn so many fossil fuels to help keep up with the
power needed to run.
There are some top major companies in America that is contributing to the rise in air
pollution. These companies include but arent limited to Williams Energy, Northworp Gruman,
General Electric, Dow Electric, Dow Chemical, Koch Industries, and U.S Industries. I think that
government should make harsher rules to help regulate the percentages of air pollution being
produced by these companies. They have some rules and regulations such as the National
Environmental Policy Act of 1969, the Clean Air Act, the Comprehensive Environmental
Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, the Toxic Substances Control Act, and Pollution
Prevention Act are the main acts. I dont think that government enforces these acts at all and if
they do the consequences isnt hard enough. They need to though because without any strict
ruling over our planet it will no longer exist.
There are also some top major countries that are killing our world. The first one is China
of course with all the factories and manufacturing they have and do. They are producing tons of
CO2 into the atmosphere daily. The second top country is the United States of America, being that
they have more than 600 electric power stations. Just think how many fossil fuels are being burnt
to uphold all this use. The third country is Brazil due to an increase in greenhouse gas and the
speed of deforestation of the Amazon Region. The fourth is Indonesia it is one of the worlds
most quickly rising in pollution. The last but not least top country is Japan, Fukushima it got so
severe at one point that if you needed to go outside you had to wear a mask. It should never get
to this in any country.
I believe that awareness should be brought to this issue. Also that we should help make
changes in saving the world. If we dont make some differences in our everyday life our planet

will no longer be viable for humans, animals, plants, and minerals to survive. I am sure that no
one is ready to die in approximately 20 years. Which would happen if we dont make changes
and reduce the amount of pollution being produced each day. In conclusion I ask you to help us,
help you, and save our planet.
