Interviewing Project Part 1
Background Information
My interviewee:
I chose to interview David Krummenacher. I met David last week while taking a
Photoshop certification course through SLCC. He is the instructor. David is a graphic
designer and works for KUED. I plan on interviewing David at his office, I asked him if
he would be willing to show me a sort of day in the life of and give a tour of his office,
he agreed.
Career Research:
I am currently studying graphic design at SLCC and will be finished with my degree next
semester (Spring 2016). According to my research
(https://jobs.utah.gov/jsp/wi/utalmis/reempfullrept.do?soccode=271024&oititle=Graphic
%20Designers), the projections for Graphic Designers in Utah 2012-2022 are as follows:
There are currently 1,640 employed graphic designers in the Salt Lake Metro Area, with
projections of 2,090 by 2022, an annual change of 2.8%. The national average has a 0.7%
increase, which puts Salt Lake above average for the nation. The pay scale ranges from
$30,480 annually for inexperienced graphic designers to the median of $45,020 annually
in the Salt Lake Metro area. These projections are the same as the national level. The top
3 companies who hire graphic designers are: 15% by specialized design services, 13% by
advertising agencies and 9% by newspaper or book publishers.
