primaryschoolteachers.Thefactthatsofewwomenareshowninjobsofpowerandauthorityin
filmisnotonlyincrediblyinaccurate,butalsoextremelydiscouraging.Sorarelyarewomen
shownasstronghumanbeingsthatgrowinggirlsandteenagersdoubtthestrengthand
capabilitiesofwomenandofthemselves.Thislimitingviewofanentiregendernotonlyputs
imaginaryboundariesforwomen,butitalsoemphasizessexistideastomales.Whenneither
malesorfemalesareshownwhatwomencando,itbecomesincrediblyeasyforthemtoforget
thatitspossible.

womenemergingandtakingthespotlight.Accordingtotheirgraphics,from2007to2012,about
30%ofspeakingcharactersarewomeninthetop500films.Almost30%ofthemworesexual
clothing,whereonly7%menworesimilarlyrevealingattire.Over25%ofwomengotpartially
