Introduction:
Thebasisforourfirstpaintingisgoingtobeabstract.Abstractdesignsareshapesand
formscreatedbytheartist,usuallyobtainedfromactualobjects.Thisusuallyinvolvesa
simplificationorrearrangementofthenaturalobjects.Sometimesthereisverylittle
resemblancetotheoriginalobjectorshapes.
GeorgiaOKeeffeisanartistthatbecamefamousforpaintingverylargeflowers.She
alsowasveryadeptatabstractingshapesworkedtogetherwithintheframeworkofherpainting.
Shestroveforanoverallcomposition,balancedineverydirection.Colorwasalsoanimportant
aspectofherwork,usingverystrongandmanytimeswellblendedcolors.

UseyourobservationalFridaydrawings.Pullportionsofeachdrawing.Overlapand
makeintoanabstractpiece.Youwillpaintwithwatercolor.Thepaperyouwilluse,withrequire
moretoothandthicknessthanthetypicalsketchbooksomakesuretogetthatfromme.Cuta
smallpieceforyourexperimentationandlargerpieceforyourfinalpainting.
