Food safety

After scanning through Food safety and food technology, I realized that we
human beings are somehow responsible for some of the predicaments or
illnesses we suffer from. Nonetheless, this chapter gives cross examines the
various methods and ways food may be contaminated various ways and
cause harm to the human body in severity. To be specific, contamination may
result from microbes and food safety, problem foods, irradiation, technology,
natural toxin, pesticides, incidental food additives, animal drugs,
environmental contaminants. However, some of these methods are used to
prevent food poisoning yet it triggers illnesses.
To elaborate more on this fact, it is evident that food contamination comes as
a result of food handing as noticed in the article how safe is your ground
beef? While this may be true, the article give a vivid description on food
contamination and which is through different method of cooking. For
example, people would prefer their beef to be medium cooked and which
may not kill the parasite present in beef. And ground beef contains bacteria E
coli which destroys the intestines and may result in bleeding and diarrhea
which is harmful to the human body consumer reports that ground beef
can make you seriously sick, particularly when its cooked at rare or medium
rare temperatures under 160 F . Also, cattle or cow raised conventionally
have more bacteria which are resistant to antibiotic as opposed to
sustainably raised cattle which has little or no antibiotic and its good for
consumption. Furthermore, conventional and sustainably raised beef has
contamination that can be harmful to the body likewise, toxins cannot be
destroyed with proper cooking. Moreover, some antibiotic given to the cattle
may soon become less resistant to bacteria and this might be a critical to
human health.
Equally important, the article chicken from farm to table food
contamination may adversely affect human health however, it gives
directives on how we can combat food poisoning especially when dealing
with poultry. For example, when handling poultry it has to be separated from
raw meat. Poultry should be refrigerated in a timely manner, poultry should
be cooked at a temperature of 165 F. In the nutshell, chicken should be
properly cooked before consumption.

Reading this articles, has made me to understand that we share the world
with bacteria and I should clean my kitchen before and after use. Also, I
should consider buying beef raised sustainably likewise, consuming more of
organic products rather than fertilized products. What is surprising to me is
even as we cleanup, I are still carry bacteria thus I still have to wash my
hands before and after dealing with food not to cause food contamination.
For this reason, the way forward is to cook meals thorough and I would avoid
foods from the restaurants as I am skeptical about their hygienic conditions.
To this effect, I would encourage friends and family members to start by
washing hands before and after meals, wash uncooked foods thorough
before use and cook properly to kill all the germs and bacteria.
