Preschool Teachers
To be a preschool teacher you need to first have a love for all children no
matter what. You have to be knowledgeable in child development and
developmentally appropriate practice in order to teach them and take care of
the children. Using play and other techniques teach them things that they need
to know without focusing on a certain thing. Its rewarding because you are
changing the lives of the children and are preparing them for the future.
Preschool teachers can work in private or public schools, or in childcare
centers. Education and training requirements vary based on settings and state
regulations. Child care centers and head starts and schools all have different
amount of education that need to have to work with the children there. You
need to be licensed to work with children wherever you are at. The median pay
in 2014 was $28,120 per yr and $13.52 per hr. Typically you need to have an
Associates degree in order to be a preschool teacher. You dont need to have
any work experience or any on the job training to be one. In 2014 there were
441,000 jobs. The job outlook is to increase 7% from 2014 to 2024. Employment
change from 2014 to 2024 is supposed to be 29,600
This job is very rewarding in many ways and also very stressful. There
are many qualifications you need to have to work with children of all ages not
just preschool. Communication is a huge quality, need to be creative, have
patience, organization skills, interpersonal skills and last but least you need to
have physical stamina because children are very active.
