2. Student Teaching What did you learn about options for student teaching
at your chosen college/university?
Trinity Christian College offers 5 alternative student teaching internship
programs. The first is called New Horizons Student Teaching Program, which
allows education students to fulfill half of their internship requirement, (16
weeks of student teaching), out of area. So for example, in this program you
can student teach in Seattle, Washington. This gives the student a
broadened view of teaching by engaging in different cultures and settings
(Trinity Christian College). The second program is called New HorizonsRehoboth. It is a program that allows education candidates the opportunity
to complete part of their student teaching internship in either Rehoboth
Christian School, New Mexico, or in one of the local Gallup, New Mexico,
schools (Trinity Christian College). The students then live on the Rehoboth
campus; attend senior seminar there and Native American activities (Trinity
Christian College). The third program is called Full Circle Internship Program,
which allows education candidates to student teach in an area and
educational atmosphere that is similar to that of the students raising/
childhood (Trinity Christian College). For example, I went to Timothy Christian
College in Elmhurst, IL from K-12 grades. So in this program, I would be
allowed to teach at a Christian school in the Elmhurst area or Timothy
Christian School itself. If this setting is out-of-area, then it can only be for half
of internship weeks (&-9 weeks). The fourth alternative internship program is
Chicago Semester, which allows education candidates to student teach in
Chicago (Trinity Christian College). The fifth program is called Center for
Christian Urban Educators Internship Program, which allows students to
student teach in an urban Christian school in the Chicago area or another
area of the country in collaboration with the Center for Christian Urban
Educators (Trinity Christian College).
In order to be able to student teach, the following requirements must be
met:
1. 200 field experience hours, Admittance to the Teacher Education
Program 1 year prior to internship (Trinity Christian College).
2. A cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 to date (Trinity Christian
College).
3. A grade of C or above in all education courses, major courses, and in all
courses which will count toward licensure and endorsements End of semester
of application (Trinity Christian College).

4. A cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 in the Professional Education courses:

EDUC 209, EDUC 203, EDUC 303, EDUC 310/311, EDUC312, and SPED 216.
Students may repeat a Professional Education course only once. Students
may repeat only two Professional Education courses (Trinity Christian
College).
5. Methods courses completed prior to internship (Trinity Christian College).
6. A minimum of one full-time semester of course work (including at least
one education course and one course in the candidates minor or
specialization) at Trinity prior to student teaching Prior to internship (Trinity
Christian College).
7. A GPA of 2.7 in specialization for K-12, middle, and secondary majors; a
GPA of 2.7 in elementary core and minor for elementary students Prior to
internship (Trinity Christian College).
8. Recommendation from the chair of the students area of minor for
elementary education candidates or area of specialization for middle,
secondary and special (K-12) candidates At application name submitted by
candidate (Trinity Christian College).
9. Professional Disposition Assessment from professional education faculty
at application given by professional education faculty (Trinity Christian
College).
10. Digital portfolio: passing score on at least 6 uploaded artifacts with
reflections All Professional Education courses (Trinity Christian College).
11. Passing score on Illinois content-area test(s) (Trinity Christian College).

Part Five: Licensure

Please answer the questions below.
1. Which content test will you need to take?
Not only will I have to pass the Assessment of Professional Teaching
(APT) test, Oral Proficiency Exam (ACTFL for Spanish Education
majors), and the Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA), but I also
will have to pass the Elementary education Illinois Content area test. It

will cover Language and Literacy, mathematics, science/Social Science

and Fine Arts/ Physical Development and Health.
2. What did you learn about the edTPA?
Students just graduated out of college are inexperienced when it comes to
fully teaching a class and completely meeting all of their learning needs.
One of the most important challenges facing public education is to ensure
that the nations increasingly young and inexperienced teacher workforce is
prepared to meet the academic needs of all students (edTPA). edTPA is a
teacher performance assessment that helps teachers be able to ensure that.
It is a multiple-measure assessment system given at the end of a teacher
preparation program and it coincides with national and state standards and
including Common Core State Standards and the Interstate Teacher
Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) (edTPA). edTPA helps teachers
develop and execute curriculum and the practice of meeting each individual
students learning needs and improvement of achievement effectively
(edTPA). This assessment system allows teacher to improve in demonstrating
skills and knowledge that is necessary to student achievement and learning
(edTPA). Students need to pass this to graduate (Trinity Christian College).

3. How do you apply for licensure?

First I must have met the graduation requirements (look at them above),
Then after I have achieved a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA, achieved a 2.7 or
higher major/minor GPA, got a 2.5 or higher ENGL 103/104 GPA, achieved a
2.5 or higher Professional Education courses GPA before internship, have had
successful completion of all coursework , after I have achieved a C (2.0) or
above in all education courses, major courses, and in all courses which will
count toward licensure, endorsement or approval, have had passing scores
on the Assessment of Professional Teaching (APT) test, Oral Proficiency
Exam, and the Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA) and have
completed my digital portfolio requirements and have submitted documents
for entitlement, I may have my licensure (Trinity Christian College).
Following the final degree audit and confirmation that financial obligations
have been met, diplomas are mailed and final transcripts indicating degrees
and academic honors are made available (Trinity Christian College).
