After reading One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish by Dr. Seuss, children
explore range of adjective words read in the book. This will build vocabulary and
understand how language works due to it rhymes text. Children will design their
fish and share the types of fish they have created using the adjectives words.
A new concept/activity
This lesson is great for children to obtain new vocabulary to expand their
sentences. This book introduces opposite words such as old and new, fast and
slow, thin and fat and simple rhyming words.
30 minutes
-After reading One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish by Dr. Seuss, Students

knowledge. Through discussions, students will acquire new vocabulary words
and communicate in more complex sentences.

-Introduce this activity by reading One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish by Dr.
Seuss
-Throughout the read aloud well look at the range adjective words and opposite
words.
-Relate the text with the students by asking range of question such as who has
SHORT hair? Who has LONG hair? (Tall/short/fast/slow/sad/happy)
-On a chart the students and teacher will note the adjective words used in the
book
-After exploring the different adjective words read from the book such as small,
big, thin, fat, short, tall and more, children will be asked to design their own fish.
-After they had created their fishes, they will stick their fish to the Fish Tank
background.
-As a whole group, they will share the types of fish they have designed and

describe them using the adjective words.
-Looking at the word chart the class has created, the class will discuss the
similarities and differences between the fishes in the Fish Tank
