Launches
a
Homeless
Survival
Kit
Drive
Aimed
to
Assist
Homeless
BATON
ROUGE,
LA
The
struggles
are
real,
and
the
options
are
limited
for
the
nearly
960
confirmed
homeless
residents
in
the
Baton
Rouge
community.
The
Scholars
of
the
Level-
Up!
Program,
an
initiative
under
the
Big
Buddy
Program,
seek
to
help
those
that
face
homelessness
in
our
community
with
a
Homeless
Survival
Kit
Drive
this
summer.
The
Homeless
Survival
Kit
Drive
will
run
now
through
July
29,
2015.
Level-UP!
aims
to
collect
clothing,
toiletries,
non-perishable
food
items,
hygiene
products
and
more
for
those
in
need.
As
part
of
the
drive,
Level-UP!
will
accept
monetary
donations
used
to
purchase
and
distribute
essential
items.
The
Level-Up!
program
urges
community
members
to
join
in
the
collection
and
make
an
impact
within
our
community.
Part
of
being
a
good
citizen
is
giving
back,
stated
Alayna
Davis,
Level-Up!
Program
Manager.
This
drive
serves
to
bring
awareness
to
this
social
issue
as
well
as
to
provide
an
opportunity
to
support
those
in
the
community
that
are
less
fortunate.
The
homeless
survival
kits
will
be
assembled
on
July
30,
2015
at
the
Mid-City
Redevelopment
Alliance
warehouse.
Level-Up!
scholars
and
volunteers
will
then
participate
in
an
8-block-awareness
walk
to
transport
the
kits
to
the
Capital
Area
Alliance
for
the
Homeless
(CAAH).
If
were
going
to
combat
homelessness
and
hunger
in
our
city,
we
must
pull
together
and
connect
our
resources
as
best
as
we
can,
Davis
said.
