INTRODUCTION
The Orthopaedic Device Reference™
The tremendous growth of orthopaedic technology over the past many years has created a need for a single comprehensive reference source documenting the currently available implantable and non-implantable orthopaedic devices. Thus, the creation of The Orthopaedic Device Reference.
In this first edition of a reference to be published yearly, the user will find an extensive listing of orthopaedic products catalogued either by specific product type or by manufacturer. Devices are also separated as to whether they are implantable or non-implantable. Further, implantable products are grouped according to their primary indication of use under headings of reconstructive, fracture and spinal implants, while non-implantable items are indexed as to external fixation, bracing and miscellaneous.
It should be pointed out that the information provided on each product is not intended to replicate the more extensive information offered by a manufacturer's catalogue or sales representative, but rather to offer a concise review of the product's general description. Each device description also makes note of any special product features, the availability of various sizes, the product's material composition, a graphic reproduction of the device and any peer reviewed published articles. The reference also provides an indexed listing of all of the participating manufacturers' customer access telephone numbers, e-mail and mailing addresses. Hopefully, this information will aid in providing a more direct access should additional product information be needed.
Lastly, it is hoped that in using The Orthopaedic Device Reference you will find it an invaluable and unique aid in providing the best of patient care.
