ORAL PRESENTATION 2nd TERM

Sponsor a Hero
You are going to prepare an oral
presentation telling the rest of your
classmates about a fictional hero.
There are three tasks to be done:
1. The written part (a text telling the reader about your hero)
2. The oral part (remember you cannot read, so rehearse at home and come to class
and speak as naturally as possible)
3. The slide presentation (it can be a PowerPoint file or any other visual support)
Aspects to include in your oral presentation:
Who your fictional hero is, what he/she is famous for (where does he/she appear?),
who created him/her and when.
Describe your hero (both physically and his/her personality). Describe his/her attire
as a hero.
Describe your hero's skills and powers (say what he/she can do)
Explain the type of adventures he/she has been through.
If your hero's adventures have been played by real actors, mention them.
Think about films and other type of adaptations of your hero's deeds.

Language tip: You are talking/writing about your hero (a timeless character) so remember to
use the Present Simple when describing him/her and the modal verb can when talking about
his/her skills.
However, when you show photos of your hero's skills try to use the Present Continuous tense (In this
photo you can see that he/she is + v-ing)
When you mention who created him/her and when, you must use the Past Simple tense.

Timing tip: Your oral presentation will last between 3 and 5 minutes. Remember to rehearse at
home in front of friends/classmates. Remember that at the end of your presentation there will be
some extra time in case the audience wants to ask any questions.

Aspects to include in your slide presentation:

Include a photo of your hero (as a normal man/woman and as a hero)
Add pictures of your hero showing his/her skills as a hero.
Show who created it.
Add film posters, comic covers or any other media in which your hero has been
represented.
You can also bring any films, posters, or even a costume you may have at
home.
