    knowledgeofthelawandtheconsequencesofbreakingit.However,bytheendofthestory,
    hetookasecondlookandrealizedhismistake.Hebeginstounderstandandlearnwhatthe
    governmenthasdonetothemindsofthecitizens,andthroughtheeventsofhislifehascometo
    realizethewrongsandhorrorsthatarearealitywithintheparametersofhiscountry.He
    developesanassessmentofthecountryunlikeanyoneelses,whichultimatelyleadstohis
    outcastandremovalfromsociety.Throughatonofresearchandsoloinvestigations,he
    decidedthatmaybethegovernmentwasnotasangelicasitseemed.

    TheCouncil(Rand15),istheformofgovernmentthatrulesoverEquality72521and
    hisbrothers.Intheircountry,theCouncilmakesalltherulesanddecisionsbasedonaformof
    thinkingcalledcollectivism.Theylookatthecitizensasone,notasindividuals.Thelaws
    requireeveryonetobeequal,nooneisallowedtobehappierthananyoneelse,bemore
    talentedthananyoneelse,besmarter,bemorefavored,oranythingatallthatwouldmake
    someonefeelbadaboutthemselves.Thisledtoadystopiansociety,andeveryonethoughtthe

    Councilwasallknowingandhadnofault.Thecitizensweredrawntoobeyingandabidingby
    everylawthatwasputforthbytheCouncil,nomatterhowharsh.TheCouncilhidevidenceof
    theprosperouspast,sendingallofthepeoplethatwerefromthateratotheHomeofthe
    Useless.Whenthepopulationneedstogrow,thereisaMatingNight.Menarerequiredto
    haveintercoursewithwomenthattheydonotevenknow,forthesimplereasonthattheCouncil
    needsmoreinfantstoraiseundertheircarewithnoinfluencefromtheirparents.Itisthrough
    thisthattheCouncilisabletobrainwashchildrenandputintheirmindsthattheyarealmostlike
    aGodfigure.Aftertheyfinishschool,theyaresentbacktotheCounciltoreceiveajobdecided
    bytheallknowingtosupposedlyservetheirbrothers.However,thejobsaredesignedsothat
    themostintelligentofthemalllikeEqualitycannotusetheirtalentsagainstthegovernment.
    Equalityfindshimselfsweepingthestreetsdaily,untilhefindsamanholewithhiddensecretsof
    thepast.Thisiswhatbeginshisstudy,hisslowrealizationofthetruthbehindtheCouncil.He
    beginstofallinlovewithagirlhemeetseverydayonhiswaytohistunnel,butthelawsofthe
    Councilpreventshimfromfindinganddeclaringfavoronher.Soeverydayheslowlybeginsto
    talktoher,somethingthatisoutlawsandhighlyfrownedupon.Eachdayhesaysafewwords
    toher,speakingofhowmuchhelovesher,thenhecontinuestohistunneltoworkonhislight.
    Heuncoversthesecretsofthepast,andwhenhebringsthebrilliantinventiontotheWorld
    Council,heonlygetsshotdown.Hethendecidesthatheshouldjustrun,runandneverstop
    becausetheCouncildoesnotappreciaterealtalentandrealintelligence.Soherethinkshis
    outlookonthegovernmenthehasrespectedforsolong.

    Equality72521isrighttorethinkhisjudgement.ThethingsthattheCouncildoesis
    wrong.Holdingpeopleapartfromlove,happiness,joy,peace,andaslewofotherthingsthata
    personneedsinordertoliveahappylife.Equalityrealizesthesethings,andalthoughheis

    disobeyingauthority,hewantstoliveanactuallifewithallthelibertiesanyhumandeserves.
    ThetyrannythatistheCouncildoeshorrifyingthings,thingsthathewantstoprotecthimself
    andhislovefrom.Andwhenhegetsintothewoodsanddiscoversthatthereareevenmore
    secretsthatthecouncilhashidden,hefindsthenewwordsI,me,andmythatenhancehis
    lifeandmakehimfeellikeanindividual.Hefindsmirrorsthatallowhimselftolookathis
    reflectionforthefirsttime,andthendeterminesthatonedayhewilltrytogobackandallowthe
    restofthecitizenstofeelthepleasuresofbeinghuman.Beingaliveissomethingyoucannot
    feelwhenyourbodyisalreadydead,thereforeEqualityiscorrectinhismoralreassessmentof
    thesituation.Afterall,parentsshouldalwayslookatthesituationandevidencebeforemaking
    amajordecision.
