Attendance and Participation

Dance is a physical activity that requires daily participation in order to be successful. Students are expected to
attend class regularly, adhere to the Dress Code, and report to class on time.
Participation
Students will have FIVE MINUTES to change in the beginning and end of each period. Students
have the opportunity to earn 3 points for every class period, provided that they are dressed in the
appropriate attire: one point is allotted for coming to class on time, one point for being prepared with all
materials for class, and one point for participating fully through each portion of the class.
Medical Excuses & Makeup Policy
Students who need to be excused from class participation due to illness or other medical reasons must
present a note from a parent or legal guardian on the day of the request. This note should include a
parents name and contact number or email address. For excuses lasting longer than one day, a doctors
note is required. All notes must be given to the instructor at the beginning of class. Students are expected
to wear the appropriate dance attire unless otherwise specified by the doctor or teacher. Students with
written excuses will NOT receive participation points for the day. Students may choose to complete
makeup work for the excused absence(s) or non-participation day(s). (See Dance Make-Up Policy)
Tardies
Students have 5 minutes after the tardy bell rings to dress and be seated in their assigned roll call spot.
All tardy students must obtain a tardy slip from the office before they will be allowed to join class. If
the student is not in their assigned seat when the instructor begins taking attendance, they will be marked
tardy and will lose participation points. Latecomers may not join class without the permission of the
teacher.
Late Work
Late work is accepted up until one week after the due date for 50% credit. It is the students
responsibility to obtain and complete any missing work.
