CAS Stages complete questions below:
1) Investigation - what are your goals for this CAS experience?
My goal is to become the concertmaster in the orchestra and learn new pieces.
2) Preparation briefly identify your plan of action and include an approximate
timeline.
My plan is to receive the pieces, which the conductor gives out throughout the year and
practice them on a daily basis. The current lead violinist will be leaving for college soon
(possible December) and then the search will begin for a new concertmaster. I plan to
audition if auditions are held and discuss it with the conductor.
3) Action - how will you accomplish your goals? Who will be involved?
I will accomplish my goal by showing commitment and dedication to the orchestra. I will
practice my orchestra pieces until I know them very well. The other members of the
orchestra will be involved as well as the conductor.
4) Reflection - what were your expectations? What did you hope to gain from this
experience? What did you learn? What are your next steps? How are the Learner
Profile attributes incorporated?
I hope to learn how to better participate in groups. When playing in an orchestra you
really have to listen to others and adjust your playing so that you are in perfect harmony
with the others. It incorporates Communication. The communication is not verbal, we
communicate with each other through our instruments. In many pieces the melody often
travels from first violin to second violin to viola to cello. There are also echoes that are

referred to as responses in the music and you effectively create a conversation

through the music.
5) Demonstration what evidence will you use to show you have completed your
goals?
The evidence will be the repertoire and my title in the orchestra.
