A Note from Mr. Field:

Notes from Music:

Welcome Back!

Happy New Year! Before we let 2015 go,

I would like to send out a huge thank
you to the Park staff and teachers for
their time and effort in making the
Holiday Concert such a great experience
for our students. Also, for anyone that
did not get a program from the Holiday
Concert and would like one, please send
me an email and I will make sure you
receive one.

I hope that all of your families enjoyed the break! Its been a
great 9irst week back as students and staff have all settled back
into routines. We look forward to this stretch of time when so
much academic growth takes place.
M-Step Parent Reports Coming home Today
Today, our 4th and 5th grade students will be bringing home a
Parent Report from the Spring 2015 M-Step. The information
contained in letter will give you a snapshot of how your child
performed on the test in his/her previous grade. Our staff is
extremely proud of the effort and time commitment our
students put forth during those testing weeks. It is important
to note that M-Step scores cannot be compared to those on the
MEAP due to the change in standards, the depth of knowledge
required, and the mode of administration (online vs paper/
pencil). As a result of these signi9icant changes, the 2014-15
scores will not be used for state accountability, rather they will
serve as a new baseline. As a district, and as a building,

our staff will use this information to determine our

curricular areas of strength and areas of focus. Please feel
free to contact me (669-1970) if you have questions
about your students' score report.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Brian Field

Winter Break - No School

We are kicking off the year with our

younger students by learning several
new songs, rhythm reading, basic music
reading skills, and playing songs on
boomwhackers (different length tubes
that play notes).

Our 4th Grade students are excited to
be working on their LinkUp performance
with the West Michigan Symphony in
May. This is a children's concert event
where they will sing and play recorder
on several songs while the Symphony
Orchestra plays with them.

In addition to continuing their study of
ukulele, our 5th Grade students will be
preparing for their visit to DeVos Hall in
February for a Young Person's Concert
with the Grand Rapids Symphony
Orchestra.

Have a Great 2016 and thank you for

supporting you child.
