TAKING THE MEDICAL MISSIONARY WORK HOUSE-TO-HOUSE ON SABBATH:

God's people are to be genuine medical missionaries, ministering to the needs of soul and
body... With the knowledge gained by practical work they are to go out to give treatments to the
sick; and as they go from house to house, they will find access to many hearts. Many will be
reached who otherwise would not have heard the gospel message. {RH, April 25, 1912 par. 2}
HOW TO DO THIS WORK:
Christ's method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Saviour mingled with
men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their
needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, "Follow Me." {MH 143.3}
There is need of coming close to the people by personal effort. If less time were given to
sermonizing, and more time were spent in personal ministry, greater results would be seen. The
poor are to be relieved, the sick cared for, the sorrowing and the bereaved comforted, the
ignorant instructed, the inexperienced counseled. We are to weep with those that weep, and
rejoice with those that rejoice. Accompanied by the power of persuasion, the power of prayer,
the power of the love of God, this work will not, cannot, be without fruit. {MH 143.4}
Begin to do medical missionary work with the conveniences which you have at hand. You will
find that thus the way will open for you to hold Bible readings. The heavenly Father will place
you in connection with those who need to know how to treat their sick ones. Put into practice
what you know regarding the treatment of disease. Thus suffering will be relieved, and you will
have opportunity to break the bread of life to starving souls. . . . {MM 239.4}

WHAT IS A GOOD DAY TO DO THIS WORK ON?

"God has given men six days wherein to labor, and He requires that their own work be done in
the six working days. Acts of necessity and mercy are permitted on the Sabbath, the sick and
suffering are at all times to be cared for;(pp 307.3)
The day before the Sabbath should be made a day of preparation, that everything may be in
readiness for its sacred hours. In no case should our own business be allowed to encroach
upon holy time. God has directed that the sick and suffering be cared for; the labor required to
make them comfortable is a work of mercy, and no violation of the Sabbath; but all unnecessary
work should be avoided. "{PP 296.1}
"He had come to free the Sabbath from those burdensome requirements that had made it a
curse instead of a blessing.
For this reason He had chosen the Sabbath upon which to perform the act of healing..."(DA
206.1-.2) Jesus stated to them that the work of relieving the afflicted was in harmony with the
Sabbath law..."(DA 206.3)
"man also has a work to perform on this day. The necessities of life must be attended to, the
sick must be cared for, the wants of the needy must be supplied. He will not be held guiltless
who neglects to relieve suffering on the Sabbath. God's holy rest day was made for man, and
acts of mercy are in perfect harmony with its intent. God does not desire His creatures to suffer
an hour's pain that may be relieved upon the Sabbath or any other day."{DA 207.1}
***Because many of us work and are so busy throughout the week, the Sabbath is truly the best

day for all of God's people to do this work
