Key Terms

Biodiversity: is the variety of different types of life found on the Earth


and the variations within species. It is a measure of the variety of
organisms present in different ecosystems.
Biotechnology: is the use of living systems and organisms to develop or
make products, or "any technological application that uses biological
systems, living organisms or derivatives thereof, to make or modify
products or processes for specific use.
Deport:. to send or carry off; transport, especially forcibly: The country

Geneva Convention: are a series of treaties on the treatment of civilians,
prisoners of war (POWs) and soldiers who are otherwise rendered hors de
combat, or incapable of fighting.
Intellectual property: refers to the legal rights to ideas, inventions and
creations in the industrial, scientific, literary and artistic fields. It also
covers symbols, names, images, designs and models used in business.

another.
Refugee: a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to

escape war, persecution, or natural disaster.


Tariff: a tax or duty to be paid on a particular class of imports or exports.
Peacekeeping: the active maintenance of a truce between nations or
communities, especially by an international military force.
Peacemaking: is practical conflict transformation focused upon
establishing equitable power relationships robust enough to forestall future
conflict, often including the establishment of means of agreeing on ethical
decisions within a community, or among parties, that had previously
engaged in inappropriate
Peace Enforcement: is the use of military force to compel peace in a
conflict, generally against the will of those combatants. To do this, it
generally requires more military force than peacekeeping operations.
Non governmental Organization (NGO):A non-governmental
organization (NGO) is an organization that is neither a part of
a government nor a conventional for-profit business. Usually set up by
ordinary citizens, NGOs may be funded by governments, foundations,
businesses, or private persons.
