Accuracy
0 The majority of my Documentary is opinion

based and not so much facts and statistic

0 However, I did still include these factors
within the film through my stock footage.
0 I found the stock footage on the internet but

to back up the statistics and facts, I made

sure to find a second source on the internet
that also backed up the points.

Opinions Presented
0 To make sure that my Documentary wasnt bias, I included a

range of different opinions so that the audience gets a better

understanding of the different perspectives on the subject.
0 Someone currently enjoying University.
0 Someone not enjoying University currently.
0 A Graduate of University that found a job in the industry.
0 A student doing another form of higher education.
0 I also tried to arrange an interview with a graduate that

didnt find a job after graduation, however he wasnt

available to film in the time frame that I needed to.

Audiences Subjectivity
0 Since all of my interviews were based around their

opinions of different subject matters within the overall

subject, they all had the opportunity to express their
opinions freely.
0 They all had different opinions and so I presented that

throughout my documentary so that the audience could

form their own opinion for themselves.
0 I made sure not to focus on one point of view more

than the other so that I wasnt pressuring the audience

to have the same opinion as me.

Balancing the Argument

0 I made sure to have an equal representation

of the good points of view and the bad
throughout my entire documentary to ensure
that the viewer doesnt assume that one of
the views is the best one.
0 I had two people who like University and two

people who dont like it as much.

Legal Problems
0 Again since the interviewees simply stated

their opinion instead of facts, I didnt have

the worry of making sure their facts were
correct before including them, that could get
them in trouble.
0 However, I made sure that anything that was

badly said about their specific University was

left out to ensure that the University wont
have any problems with the documentary.

BBC Editorial Guidelines

0 The BBC Editorial Guidelines state that a factual production

must be impartial and not bias.

0 In my production I made sure to include even amounts of both
arguments as I had two people for it and two against.
0 Also whilst editing, I made sure not to include more of one point
of view than the other.
0 I made sure that my opinion was not presented throughout the
documentary and it was strictly from the opinions of the
interviewees.

Libel and Defamation

0 These two words mean very similar things

Libel
a published false statement that is damaging to a
person's reputation
Defamation the action of damaging the good reputation of
someone
To make sure my documentary does not do either of
these things, I have made sure not to include any bad
mouthing about any of the Universities or courses.

Modes of address
0 My documentary could be classified in either the

Expository mode or the Interactive mode.

0 Expository
-Narration directly addressing the viewer.
-Direct relationship between images and voice-over.
-A narrator who also appears in the Documentary.
0 Interactive
-Representation of multiple viewpoints, contributing
different information.
-No definitive argument, leaving the audience to decide.

Why?
0 I chose that I wanted to be in the documentary

instead of just a voice over because I thought

that it would help the audience relate to the
subject better.
0 Directly addressing the viewer also lets them
understand that the documentary is actually
going to help them.
0 The interactive mode really suits the topic of the
Documentary because it is about different
opinions and is suppose to help the audience
make up their own opinion on the subject.

Other modes that could

have worked.
0 I think the Observational mode could have

worked for this documentary subject.

- Could give insight on Uni life and what
university actually is by seeing it instead of
hearing about it.

Why did I interview who I

did?
0 Dan He gives an insight on Uni life and what his opinion
is on going to University currently.
0 Simon A point of view from someone who has already
graduated. Was able to talk about finding jobs.
0 Emma Gives an insight on doing another form of higher
education. Gives the audience an alternative and her
opinion on this over University.
0 Jess Gives an insight to Uni life again but also expresses
the problems that she has encountered at University.
Overall, there is a balance of opinions and gives the
audience a range of points to think about.
