CRISIS ECONMICA DE LOS 80

El Ecuador vive una crisis estructural debido al agotamiento de un estilo de
crecimiento que, histricamente, ha venido generando graves desequilibrios
en la economa, la sociedad y el sistema poltico nacional.
Al concluir el perodo 1980 1988, la sociedad ecuatoriana enfrenta una
grave y compleja problemtica social, caracterizada, entre otros por tres
problemas crticos:

La elevada desnutricin infantil que afecta a ms del 45% de los

nios menores de 5 aos.
Los bajos niveles de alcantarillado que deterioran las condiciones de
saneamiento ambiental.
Los agudos ndices de desempleo abierto (14.3%) y subempleo que
afectan a la poblacin econmicamente activa.

The Ecuador is experiencing a structural crisis due to depletion of a style of
growth that, historically has been generating serious imbalances in the
economy, society and the national political system.
At the end of the period 1980 - 1988, the Ecuadorian society faces a serious
and complex social problems, characterized, among others, three critical
problems:

The high infant malnutrition affects over 45% of children under 5

years.

Low levels of sewage deteriorating sanitation conditions.

Acute open unemployment rates (14.3%) and underemployment

affecting the economically active population.
