Dear Interviewer,

My name is Lauren Checker and I am a senior at Alverno College majoring in Early

Elementary Education with a support in English Language Arts. Thank you for taking
the time to view my portfolio and assess my materials.
I feel that my journey at Alverno has helped me to realize what kind of teacher I
wish to be, and how I am going to get there. Alverno has allowed me to understand
that effective teachers never stop growing; they are always looking for ways to
improve in the classroom for the benefit of their students. In my teaching career I
wish to always be a life-long learner so that I am always current on the best
teaching approaches and strategies.
My artifacts and videos show my progress over the course of four years. I have set
up my portfolio according to field placements. You will notice that my portfolio is
designed according to my growth as a teacher. I begin with my beginning
experiences, and as the pages go on you will see my understandings and
improvement. In these placements I have artifacts that provide rationales for the
ten Wisconsin Teaching Standards and Alverno Abilities. I have explained how these
artifacts support my understanding of the standards and abilities.
