Consulting Group withdraws its $7500 Gold Membership contribution which was mailed yesterday.
I havent been an EDC board member for long, but let me be clear. I joined the EDC because of Ben
Pingree. I consider him my friend and my mentor as it relates to community involvement and advocacy.
With his EDC departure comes my departure.
Thank you very much for the opportunity to be on the EDC Board. As a computer geek, I learned a great
deal from the experience.

To be fair, this is not a new conversation. Increasingly over
the past few years, there have been questions raised and
criticisms leveled regarding lackluster performance, which
also led to questions about the current structure of the
EDC.

To that end, when I took over as Chair in October, I
announced that a Task Force was being launched to
examine the organization with the goal of improving
transparency, accountability, and performance.

I was very focused on creating this group with
representation from all key stakeholders to have a voice in
the process including strong representation from the
Chamber, the EDC, and our public partners.

I am disappointed the public conversation erupted before
the task force could begin a constructive discussion that
would result in thoughtful recommendations.

As previously stated, I believe both organizations are
important to the success of this community, and deeply
regret the Chamber has taken these actions.

I remain convinced there is a better path and a better
solution, and stand by my belief that the best and most
effective way forward is a transparent process and
discussion.

When you put smart and committed people in the room,

as I planned to do with the task force, you come out with

better answers.

I am proud of my long record of service and support to the
Chamber & the EDC, reflecting my belief that both are vital
to the success of our business community.

I look forward to meeting with the key leaders in our
Economic Development Council and public partners
about a path forward.
