CASE - 1
Summary:
The situation is about on Mr. X, a graduating student who is aware on an incoming
examination in his subject mathematics, but still sticks to his usual plan: to party all night
with his friends. Mr. X is born as a partygoer. He never studies when it comes to
examinations. Instead of studying, he cheats. His friends told him to prepare for their exam,
but he just told them that he is going to graduate without studying, and just prepared a
kodigo which he will use as his cheating material. The next day he took the exam, and Mr.
X still did his cheating. It was helping him well, too well that he didnt notice his teacher
approaching from his back. He was caught cheating and just told his teacher that he was
just reading his notes.
Answer:
Yes, Mr. X was guilty for cheating on his examination. Right from the start, it was already
his way on facing and taking his exams. The fact that his friends know that it was always his
doings, his intention was very clear, and it was to his kodigo to answer the questions.
Another thing is when he said that he was reading his notes. We all know that during exams,
the first and foremost rule or policy in every school is that we are not allowed to read notes
or reviewers when the examination already takes place. This was another aggravating
circumstance that would just increase his culpability besides his intention himself, which is
to cheat.
Reflection:
We students should be responsible enough in all our ways not just in our home, but also
to our school and also to the community. As for the situation of Mr. X, he should have studied
hard for his exam, and just stop wasting his time going to parties and other stuffs. He
shouldve just faced his responsibility in his school whole-heartedly, and he wouldve faced
such consequences.
CASE 2
Summary:
The situation is about Poy, whos just his first time going to Manila at a 5-star hotel
because of his balikbayan friend, Jack. Poy was so amazed to all the things that he saw. The
high class rooms, the elevators, the escalators. It was like a magic for him he said. When
they were at the lobby waiting for their baggage because theyre already checking out, the
hotel manager approached them, telling them that the pillowcases and blankets in their
room were lost. Jack complained and made them double checked the room, telling them that
they were not thieves. They found nothing and they told Jack that theyll just look and check
for their baggage. When they are about to open up the baggage, Poy stopped the hotel
manager and told him that he was the one who got the pillowcases and blankets. He
explained and told them with teary eyes that he thought they could take home the things
from the hotel like a souvenir.
Answer:
Yes, Poy was guilty of stealing the pillowcases and blankets because he took something
that he does not own, hence, it is the very basic teaching that getting or taking anything
from anyone, anywhere, which we do not own is bad, unless one ask permission in getting,
taking or borrowing it. About the coercion, it is not a sufficient reason because the act itself
was wrong. Being barriotic or ignorant is not an excuse. The act done by Poy was wrong,
and it is impossible for the hotel to not have a policy posted saying that getting their utilities
or equipment is forbidden.

We should not get or take things that we do not own for it is an act of stealing. If we want to
have or borrow something, we should just simply ask for permission. We should also
remember that ignorance is not an excuse, regardless of ones reason.
