ABOUT OUR FAMILY COALITION

Millions of children in the united States are living in households headed by same-sex couples. In recent years, this number has grown exponentially
and continues to rise. Our Family Coalition exists to ensure these families have both visibility and voice within the broader lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender, and queer movement as well as among the general public. We effect change on a policy level and in family living rooms, schools, and
gathering places. The scope of our impact is visible in the work we do every day:
Our Policy and Communications Program builds public education campaigns that advance equity for LGBT-headed families with children,
engaging over 3,500 families in statewide advocacy efforts each year. Our recent efforts have contributed to the passage of the innovative
Modern Family Act and the full implementation of the FAIR Education Act.
Our Welcoming and Inclusive Schools Program works directly with school communities to introduce LGBT- inclusive curricula and
positive climate/safe school practices in elementary schools. We have trained more than 2,000 educators, impacting tens of thousands of
students in California.
Our Family Support Program works with LGBTQ parents/caregivers from family-building time through the school years and beyond. We
serve LGBT families and their children with workshops, support groups, and community-building by providing more than 150 individual
programs and events every year.

ABOUT MEN HAVING BABIES

Men Having Babies, Inc. is a nonprofit international organization that spun off from a program that had run at the NYC LGBT Center since 2005. It
provides guidance, advocacy & financial assistance for current and future gay surrogacy parents. Over time it has expanded to include over 2500
couples and singles worldwide and has been offering workshops and seminars in a growing number of locations. It also developed a framework
for ethical surrogacy, elaborate online resources, a directory with ratings and reviews of dozens of surrogacy agencies and IVF clinics, a financial
assistance program, a speakers bureau, and a vibrant online community forum.
Surrogacy Workshops and Conferences: MHB offers monthly workshops and annual seminars in NYC, and teams up with LGBT
parenting associations to provide annual conferences in San Francisco, Chicago, Tel Aviv and Brussels. Our conferences provide unparalleled
opportunities to get unbiased information, access a wide range of relevant service providers, and connect with others going through the
surrogacy process. Special interest panels for parents, prospects and professionals included topics such as Parenting for HIV+ men, Speaking
to your children about surrogacy and gay parenting, Testimonies from teenagers born via surrogacy, and Ethical considerations in surrogacy.
Gay Parenting Assistance Program (GPAP): The Gay Parenting Assistance Program (GPAP) was created as part of our mission to promote
the affordability of surrogacy services for gay men. GPAP annually provides dozens of couples with access to substantial discounts and about
$750,000 in cash grants and free services from about forty leading service providers. Funds for this program come from event sponsorship
fees and direct donations. Applications for the Stage I (discounts only) are accepted on a rolling basis, and Stage II candidates are evaluated
periodically.
SurrogacyAdvisor Directory: In an effort to promote transparency and affordability, MHB conducts surveys to receive feedback on program
needs and ratings of agencies and clinics. The hundreds of responses we receive allow us to offer exclusive rating tables with satisfaction
levels, success measures, and real cost gures. This information has already helped many prospective parents save thousands of dollars by
identifying affordable, effective providers. The directory includes a comprehensive listing of over 100 providers from the USA and beyond with
contact information, descriptions of services, video introductions, and reviews. A universal consultation request form allows our members to
contact dozens of providers in one step!
