One significant learning experience in NFDN
1002 course was the discussion about different
medications; uses, actions, adverse reactions
and necessary actions or interventions of a
nurse. I can relate it to CLPNA competency
through the knowledge I have about medication
it will be my tool to teach client and families
about proper administration of medications at
home.

I would rate my understandings about the

chosen CLPNA competency as Good I
understands the competency in theory and in
scenarios and nursing practice. To achieve this
competency I have attended all the theory class,
do my reading, make the medication cards for
common drugs given in class, I also practice my
skills in giving medication by attending
laboratory and performing three checks as well
as memorizing and understanding the five rights
of clients.
My knowledge about pharmacology can be a
tool to success as a student practical nurse right
now, it will help me to be capable and confident
in administering medications, knowing when
and where to do the three checks and how to do
it properly. The knowledge I learned from
theory class and the skills I have embraced from
laboratory class will be my weapon in teaching
clients and their families about safe medication
administration at home setting. In the future
these knowledge will be my foundations to be
more competent in my chosen career, it will
guide me to avoid omitting or neglecting my
duties as health care provider.
