legislative. They have an approximate population of 30,444,999
people. Perus GDP is 6,661.59 USD. Some of Perus natural
resources are Copper, Gold, Natural Gas, Hydropower, and much
more. One of their key issues it that even though Peru has an
abundance in natural resources more than half of their population
is living in poverty. Peru is situated on the western border of South
America right next to Brazil, Bolivia, and Columbia. Some of their
trade partners are the United States, China, Chile, and Brazil. One
international organization Peru participating in is the International
Organization for Migration (IOM). This organization makes sure
that people are going through humane management of Migration.
Peru has had diplomatic tension with Chile. Peru has not recently
been involved in war.

Trinidad established diplomatic relations when the island nations

Topic Overview
Drug Policy-

Illegal drug trafficking specifically in Latin America is not new news.

Many networks of criminals are operating the business. In 2014 seventeen
nations were on the list of the Presidential Determination on Major Drug
Transit or Major Illicit Drug Producing Countries for Fiscal Year 2014. These
countries were American states (Bahamas, Belize, Bolivia, Columbia, Costa
Rica, The Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras,
Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela). The drug
market has had a huge economic impact with about $320 billion in retail
sales and a total of $150 billion of sales in American Accounts. That is almost
half of the global total estimate! High levels of corruption usually do
widespread drug trafficking which keeps the trend of poor governments. The
war on drugs has cost some countries a lot of money. The OAS is working
on plans of action for its members.

Immigration PolicyIllegal immigration is when a person migrates to a foreign country

illegally without that countrys consent. This means that they are not in that
countries system. They can not have any trace of their identity anywhere.
So, they have to get paid under the bus. Illegal immigrants have many
reasons why they may have to illegally migrate. Some people do it because
they want to start a new life and they cant because they have a criminal
record. Some do it because they want to smuggle in illegal substances.
Others do it just because they have not been approved yet. Illegal
immigration is a big problem because it imbalances the population of a
country and it is and economic problem.

Mass Migration-

8
The topic we have is Mass Migration. Mass Migration is a large group of immigrants
entering into a country. Mass migration are usually political refugees and job
seekers. A present day example of a political refugee would be the Syrian Refugees.
They are trying to find shelter in other countries while there country is at war. Our
Country for this topic is Trinidad and Tobago. Trinidad and Tobago are not very well
known so, here is a little information about the country. They are the islands located
between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, northeast of Venezuela.
They have a population density of 239 and our global ranking is 44. Their population
growth rate is -0.13.They have had some border disputes with a few islands, but
they have agreed to compulsory international arbitration under United Nations
Convention on the Law of the Sea. Trinidad and Tobago are a transshipment point
for South American drugs destined for the United States and Europe.

My Country and the Topic

Drug Policy in Peru-

Peru is a country in South America. Peru is corrupt. They are currently

in the fight against drugs. They have a law basically stating that if you have
anything to do with selling and promoting drugs that it is considered a crime.
But if you have less than 5 grams of some drugs that it is non punishable.
The National Police of Peru does not have clear rules and prosecutes
consumers even with the Criminal Code provisions. The government are
actually debating on if they should give death penalty. Drug Policy is a big
deal in our country.

Immigration Policy in PeruThe country of Peru has had a large amount of illegal immigration. The
government opposed illegal immigration and wants to put away with it. Peru
is studying if they should tighten the Bolivian border. But other countries
have the same type of problem. Peruvians are illegally immigrating more
than Peru is getting illegal immigrants. Peruvians are illegally immigrating all
over Latin America. Peru wants to figure out how to stop the illegal
immigration all together.

Mass Migration in Trinidad and

TobagoTrinidad and Tobago are the Caribbean countries with the largest
concentrations of immigrants with 35.4% of the total Caribbean migrants in the
region. Most of the recent migrants were usually associated with specific

10
development projects for economic growth based on the oil industry. Trinidad is will
most likely approve you in if you are coming to work or for education. 55.7% of the
migrants were entering to work, and 30% as students. In the Trinidadian
Immigration Act no one who is not a citizen nor a resident of Trinidad and Tobago
you may not work in a single period not exceeding thirty days in any on period of
twelve months unless you have a work permit. But, you do not need a work permit if
you are coming for business meetings. This law makes it hard for other countries to
get into Trinidad and Tobago, but they still have a lot of migrants. Trinidad and
Tobago does not oppose the idea of mass migration, but it is a little hard to enter in
as a citizen. The Trinidadian population is the fifth highest populated country in the
Caribbean. This does not mean they do not have room for refugees. Their only
concern is the Islamic extremists trying to come back to Trinidad and Tobago.
Trinidad and Tobago would like to allow mass migration. But, with that they
would also want to set a few rules before having the commitment to work with
migrants. This law is so that the migrants will eventually pay back the government
when they become stable. The first law is that the migrants must get a work permit
in order to work in Trinidad and Tobago. This is so everyone who migrates can work
and make a stable living for themselves. Trinidad would also like to work together
with Barbados and Venezuela to make sure that migrants have other options to go
to different islands that may be closer by. Trinidad would also like to tell other
countries to try and accept migrants because it would be the nice thing to do. If
they cannot fund the situation they should still try to help the migrants in some way.
Making the migrants get work permits allows a future for the migrants and it also
forces the migrant to have to pay a certain percentage back to the government.
