Outcomes of the questionnaire

Answer question a
How diverse is the population in your town / area?
Very diverse, we have people from all kinds of origins.
How many people have different ethnic origins?
A lot, there's a big moluccan population, moroccans and turks.
Which religions are represented in your area?
Mainly Christians and Muslims.
Zindzis answer on question b:
Do all religions and cultures have the same rights?
- The Surinam culture has the same rights as the Netherlands, same
rights for women as for men. Only if youre gay, it wouldnt be so easy for
you in the Surinam culture. There is a lot of problems with being accepted
if youre gay.
Zoes answer on question b:
Do all religions and cultures have the same rights?
- I dont think so, every culture and religion has different rights, some are
the same but for example I know that In some cultures homosexuality isnt
accepted and the women have less rights than the men.

Question e principal school
Rosas answer on question f:
What are the positive effects of a multi-cultural representation of
students at school?
-

Student learn more about other cultures and this prevents prejudices
and stereotyping. Which is a good thing, it also prevents discrimination
and racism.
I like that we have a multicultural school because every culture has its
own beauty and celebrations and I think you can learn a lot from their
way of thinking and their way of living.

Andrews answer on question h:

Have you ever had any experience with multicultural
schooling during your youth?
-

No. I used to live in the UK, and in the region I come from, almost
everyone was Christian.

Biancas answer on question h:

Have you ever had any experience with multicultural
schooling during your youth?
-

No. I used to go to a Christian school in Middelburg. I didnt really know

anyone from other cultures than Christian.

Processing outcomes
With some people we asked at the end if they thought that multicultural
schooling is a good thing or not. Most of them thought that it is a good thing
because otherwise the distance between certain cultures becomes even greater
than it already is. Racism and stereotyping could increase if we didnt have
multicultural schools.
