Description of artifact and how the artifact meets the standard:
This artifact displays how I am providing substantive, timely, and constructive feedback to students and parents. I have
worked with the Student Success Team several times throughout the last two years to gather data and implement
strategies for struggling students in both academics and behaviors. This artifact is a Student Success Team plan for one
of my students this year for behavior. I share this plan with both the student and his parents to communicate what we
have in place to help control his behavior. I do this through email and conferences.
Reflection on artifact (what went right, what went wrong, how to make better)
It is such a great opportunity to work with a team of experienced teachers to share and discuss ideas and strategies to
help a struggling student. It gives me accountability to gather specific data, and also put into place a specific plan to
help the student be successful in the struggling area. This student has trouble dealing with his stress level and
frustration. We discussed all of his outbursts and were able to put into place a plan to help him control his emotions
when he feels them coming.
It is very rewarding working with a team to discuss many strategies, and then chose the most appropriate one that will
work the best. It has expanded my strategies to use for students with behavior problems in my own classroom. I am
going to continue to gather data on my struggling students to make sure I get them the services they need to be
successful. It has also expanded my abilities to provide timely and constructive feedback to him and his parents. The
student, his parents, and I will all discuss the plan together, when an outburst happens, and when the plan changes. It is
so important that the whole team of me, the student, the parents, and the SST work together to make sure the student
becomes successful.
