New Years Eve Party Sermon

Hi everyone, Happy New Year! I feel like we just celebrated 2015 now its 2016 wow
does time go fast, anyway. Now that it is 2016, I have some easy ways to make 2016 one
of the best years in your life; I have a list of 5
#1 is- Try new things, get out of your comfort zone, who knows what is out there for you
to do, and start, if you dont do it, it can seem scary, but you could be missing something
that God has for you to do, and it adds a little spice to your life anyway, the Bible says in
Isaiah 43:18 and 19,Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.
Behold I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, can you perceive it? I will make a
way in the wilderness and rivers in the dessert.
#2 is- Dont be afraid to change, change can be good, so embrace it, there is a difference
between good change and bad change, 1Corinthians 5:17 says, Therefore, if anyone is in
Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold the new has come. This is
a good example of what a good change is, and we need change like this in our life.
#3 is-to stretch yourself, this sounds like the 1st one of trying new things, but stretching
yourself looks different, it could be like doing the same thing, but stretching yourself to
do it different or better, do your best at everything you do, Colossians 3:23 says,
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human
masters.. Stretching yourself could also look like making better goals to grow deeper, to
be the best you that you can possibly be, and stretching out in faith, growing deeper with
God, believing Him for more.

#4 is- Be careful what you say, theres power in words, words are like a packet of power!
They set things in motion in your life, so speak life, I even struggle with this one, The
Bible has a lot to say about the power of words, Proverbs 18:21 says, Death and life are
in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. And 1Peter 3:10
says, For the one who desires life, to love and see good days, must keep his tongue from
evil and his lips from speaking deceit. So watch your words.
And lastly, remember where youre going, there will be hard times in your life, and
throughout the year, Just like Jesus said, but we need to remember that no matter how
bad or hard it gets that Gods love never fails us, and it will all be made right in the end
because were all going to heaven. Hebrews 12:2 says, We do this by keeping our eyes
on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting
Him, He endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now He is beside Gods throne. The
joy awaiting him is referring to heaven; Jesus could do what needed to be done, in light
of eternity. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 says, That is why we never give up. Though our
bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are
small and wont last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them
and will last forever! So we dont look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our
gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the
things we cannot see will last forever. What an encouraging verse! One more verse
about heaven is found in Revelation 21:4, and it says, He will wipe every tear from their
eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are
gone forever. So remember your eternal future is fully secure in Jesus, by what He did
for us on the cross, dont ever doubt that, and rest in his perfect, unconditional love that

lasts forever!! Put things in perspective, of eternity. We also should remember to help
other people join us in our eternal hope of heaven. Lets pray, Dear God, Thank-you for
a new year, a year to try new things, help us to trust you, and take a step outside our
comfort zone, help us also to remember where were going, please give us all
opportunities to share the good news with others this new year, and most of all help us to
make time for you in our crazy plans this coming year, and be with us this year, to make
it a great year, I praise you and thank you for all these things, In Jesus name Amen.
