September 2015- Present
- Volunteer opportunity to job shadow two registered dietitian nutritionists at the local medical facility.
- Able to observe RDN implement the nutrition care process and utilize EPIC the new electronic medical charting
system for the hospital.
- Learning the charting process for assessment and monitoring patient care by imputing the patient nutrition
assessment data into the EPIC system.
- Responsible for developing general nutrition education materials for the inpatient and outpatient setting. Such as
creating a highly visible bulletin board display addressing topics for managing diabetes.
- Created patient nutrition education handouts on topics such as portion control, healthier food choices when
eating out, and Good Fats and Bad Fats.

Slam Dunk for Diabetes Camp, Chicago, IL
Summers 2014 & 2015
- Worked as a medical staff intern for a diabetes day camp, hosting 60 campers ages 8 to 18, to help assist
dietitians and nurses to measure childrens blood sugar, and give the appropriate dietary treatment for
hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia.
- Assisted in camp registration by helping campers complete the medical intake form and observed health care
professionals in evaluating childrens dietary recall and insulin ratios.
- Observed health care professionals provide patient specific nutrition education on carbohydrate counting and
blood glucose level management with parents and kids.
COMMUNITY NUTRITION EDUCATION EXPERIENCE:
Too Busy to Diet, Virtual Media Intern
January 2015- Present
- Work 12 hours a week on developing blogs about nutrition and health promotion, such as the importance of
eating breakfast and eating a balanced diet.
- Utilize acquired social media skills to promote blog posts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and
toobusytodiet.com.
- Develop simple, quick, and healthy recipes that are posted on social media, approx. 8 to 10 hours a week.
- Collaborate with two registered dietitians, Monica Joyce and Jacqueline King, to promote their book, Too Busy
to Diet through social media marketing techniques.

- Provided sports nutrition education session to the Talawanda football team of 60 players, ages 13 to 15, about
portion sizes, importance of breakfast, and physical activity.

- Presented to 25 members of the state organization, the Ohio Nutrition Council on Mindful Eating Habits.

- Participated in creating thousands of nutritional food packs for starving children in 70 countries around the world
and helped raised money through donations.
