Do not conform yourself to this age, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind
that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans
12:2. I really love this verse, because it actually applies to our day-to-day lives, especially when
it comes to the topic of abortion. Abortion is the heinous murder of unborn children in the womb,
and frankly, it is unacceptable. Abortion has been legal in the US since 1973 and since that time,
over 57 million children have been killed without a thought. Even the worst criminals on death
row get trials before they are put to death, but these babies pass from this world without a word.
And for what? Existing? Abortion is an immoral crime because it not only destroys the human
child, but it also destroys the mother.
Lets first talk about what defines a human being. The short answer is that a human being
is the state of being human. Pro-abortionists say that the baby inside of a pregnant woman is not
a human child at all, but a clump of cells. Well, these clumps of cells, from the moment of
conception, have around 50,000 human genes, the same number as any adult human. The same
number as you and me. These clumps of cells are the product of 2 joined human cells. What
else then, could these clumps of cells be, but human? They also argue that the child is not yet
alive. They claim that science is on their side. Science teaches that there are 8 qualities necessary
to be living. A living organism must grow, use energy, be able to reproduce, adapt to the
environment, respond to stimuli, be made of cells, have levels of organization, and have nucleic
acid. From conception, babies grow, have energy-related organelles, reproduce through mitosis,
adapt and respond to their environment, are made of cells which are organized in a specific
manner, and have DNA. Even from the earliest stages of development, a baby in the womb meets
all of these requirements to be living. A living human as we established earlier. And is it not
murder to kill a living human? According to the 5th Commandment, murder is immoral, and
according to the US, murder is illegal. Why then, is abortion considered legal and moral? Why
are people turning a blind eye on this crime? 18 days after conception, the childs heart begins to
beat. At 6 weeks there are brain waves. At 9 weeks, the baby begins to feel pain. Thats right.
Abortions after 9 weeks cause physical pain to another human being. An innocent human being
who was given no chance.
Even with all of these solid facts that prove that abortion is murder, some people will
continue to argue that abortion is a necessary right for women. However they fail to mention the

harmful aftermath that comes from having an abortion. Did you know that abortion can increase
the risk of breast cancer? You see, when a woman is pregnant, her bodys level of estrogen
increases, which signals undifferentiated cells in her breasts to multiply. By the time the woman
gives birth, these cells will have developed into milk producing cells. When a woman
unnaturally stops her pregnancy before the third trimester, her breasts are left with so many
undifferentiated cells that no longer have a purpose. These cells continue to follow their last
command: to multiply. Which is essentially what cancer is, cells that continue to multiply
indefinitely. These same hormones affect women emotionally as well. Abortion can lead to
depression and PTSD, as well as higher risks of suicide, because the body recognizes the loss of
a child as traumatic. Now, I could spout off a fact about how around 31% of the women whove
had an abortion regret it, but Im not going to. But seriously, that is the worst effect: the missed
opportunity. When I attend the silent March for Life, I see many people carrying signs that say I
regret my lost parenthood. These brave witnesses want to stop people from making their same
mistake, from killing their own children. Some of them will never have children again, and they
live with that regret every day.
As we approach the 5 minute mark of this speech, I have sad news to share with you. In
these last 5 minute, in the US alone, 11 children have been killed through abortion. I look around
me, at this world we live in. I see the broken pieces of a once beautiful home, now in tatters. We
are living in a culture of death and destruction, and it feels so hopeless. Matthew West has a song
called Do Something, and at the beginning, he expresses this same sense of hopelessness. He
tells us, I shook my fist at Heaven, and said God why dont you do something? He said, I did.
I created you! He created us! He is our hope! We cant just sit around and do nothing, because
God made us for greatness. He made us to make a difference, and to fix our broken world. Do
not conform yourself to this age, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind that you may
discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect. Do you really think it is
the will of God for 57 million of his beautiful children to be slaughtered? The children that he
created, who have a unique combination of DNA that will never be repeated? Is it good and
pleasing and perfect to turn a blind eye on this silent Holocaust? Does this please our Lord and
Maker? No! So do not conform yourself to this age! Stand up for the little ones. We are the
generation that will end abortion. There are so many better solutions. Lets spread the word that
adoption is so much healthier and safer and happier for the mother and the child. Let us raise our
voices and not be silent as abortion wipes away 1/3 of our population. And whatever you do,

when you leave this building, do not forget what was said here today. Do not be silent, do not
conform, and most importantly, do not be afraid. Do something!
