1). __________________

__________________ proved atoms exist.

2). The word atom is Greek for the word

__________________ .

3). The three parts of anatom are __________________ ,

__________________ , and __________________ .
4). What two parts are in the nucleus?
__________________ and __________________.
5). What hangs out around the nucleus?
__________________
6). The number of protons in an atom determine what
__________________ it is.
7). Argentum is latin for __________________ .
8). Do nuclei change?

Protons, Neutrons,
Electrons
7

1. What three things make up all atoms?

2. What are the differences between the charges of protons,

neutrons, and electrons?

3. What is the difference in size between protons, neutrons,

and electrons?(List from greatest to least)

4. How do electrons contribute to the reactions between

elements?

5. How does the number of electrons affect the properties of

certain elements?

6. Where is each one located?

7. How are elements able to change states of matter?

8. Why does this occur? Model it to prove

9. How do you interpret the information of an element on the

periodic table? (label atomic number, symbol, element, atomic
mass, number of protons and electrons)

10.

Electron CTF

-Kids get a belt w/ ribbons on it

-Number of ribbons ranges from 1-8
-Kids try to get each others flags and get a total of 8 ribbons
-Once they have 8, try not to lose or gain anymore

-Ribbons = Electrons, getting 8 = becoming a noble gas

10

element research project

11

Give each student a different element to research.

After they have researched the physical properties,
common uses, where it is found, reactions with other
elements, atomic number, and the elements
symbol/abbreviation have them make a small poster of it
Present information to the class and have everyone
take notes/ interactive notebook
Ask them to try and group the elements in anyway that
they want. After show them how they are actually grouped
on the periodic table.
List of most common elements
