    sinceIwasinthe5thgrade,whichwastheyear2008.

    All4yearsatPineLakeIhavereallyinvolvedmyselfintothetheatricalsideofPineLake,
    helpingwithtechtheatreeveryMarchApril.Themusicalisextremelytimeconsumingand
    bringsmeabout70servicehoursayear.Beingthestagemanagerfortheplayhashelpedme
    understandtherealmeaningofleadership,workingfrom3to10p.mforabout2weeks.
    Workingthatpositionhasattimespushedmetomybreakingpoint,butIhavebeengratefulfor
    theexperience.IalsoparticipatedinScienceOlympiadandwon2firstplacemedalswhichwith
    thehelpofotherparticipantsprogressedthePineLakeScienceOlympiadteamtostatesin
    Raleigh.IalsoparticipateinSpiritClubhelpingmakePineLakeafunenvironmentforevery
    teacherandstudent.InmyfreetimeImahugefanoftheoutdoors,spendingmostofmylife
    huntingandhiking,whichhasreallytaughtmetoloveandappreciatenatureandlifearoundme.
    ThroughoutmylifeIhavealwayshadahugeinterestwiththetopicofmystery,thegripping,
    adrenalineinvoking,cliffhangingfeelingthatamysterynovelormoviegivesislikenoother.

    MyPrideProjecttopicisForensicScienceandCriminology,whichisthecollectionofand
    analysisofevidencetakenfromacrimescene.Mysteryhasalwaysbeensomethingthathaskept
    meinterestedforaslongasIcanremember.AfterdoingmyresearchforthePridePaper,I
    realizedthatforensicsciencewassomethingIwouldnotwanttodo,butinsteadmajorin
    nursing.IhaverecentlybeenacceptedtotheUniversityofTennesseeandplantoattendthe
    CollegeofArtsandSciencesandmajorinnursing.

    IhavemetwithmymentorToddMarcumwhocurrentlyworksattheMooresvillePolice
    Departmentasahomicidedetective.FormyproductIdecidedtofocusmoreontheforensic
    sciencerole,bycreatingafakecrimescene.ForthecrimesceneIwillcreateaninteractivereal
    lifesimulation,usingrealpeople,andalsocreatingalibiswiththingslikereceipts,andwitnesses.
    Thesimulationwillbesetupidenticaltoarealcrimescene,onepersonwillbefoundmurdered,
    thedetectiveondutywillfindreallifesuspectstointerviewandquestion.Throughoutthe
    investigationeachsuspectsalibiwillbeexaminedandbytheendofthesimulation,the
    detectiveshouldbeabletoruleallofthesuspectsout,exceptonewhichwillbetheconfirmed

    murderer.Thisprojectwillbepresentedmuchlikewhatisexpectedonarealhomicidecase,
    creatingabulletinboardofallsuspects,pinningeachandeverypartofevidencefoundonand
    offthecrimescene.Iwillbetakingphotosofthecrimescene,includingthebody,themurder
    weapon,andotherevidencefoundatthescene(thingslikefootprintsorDNAfoundatthe
    scene).Thegoalfortheprojectistolearntheinsandoutsofwhatthejobwouldreallyentail.
    Whatthegoalisforthejudgestoreallyseewhattheinsandoutsofacrimescenereallyentail.
    TheactionthatiscommonlyglorifiedonpopularTVshows,istruthfullynotwhatcommonly
    happensinreallife.IthinktheproductperfectlytiesinthesubjectofForensicSciencebecauseit
    showswhatareallifecrimescenewouldlooklikeformycareerchoiceinthefuture.This
    projectwillbeverytimeconsuming,sinceIwillbeusingrealpeopleandhavingtocreate
    valuableevidenceforthescene.Mygoalisthefinishthementorhoursandproductbyearly
    January.
