DISSERTATION RESEARCH

Integrating Aesthetics:
Transforming Continuing and Professional Education
Through Africentric Practice

The purpose of this qualitative study was to identify and describe curriculum
content and instructional strategies at three African Centered educational
institutions in Chicago. Goals included designing a continuing and professional
education model to help facilitate an understanding of the educational utility of
African Centered practice. The workshop model and curriculum that emerged from
analysis is intended for traditional public school practitioners serving students of
the African Diaspora in urban areas.
