As you heard in our email last evening, the Winnipeg Police Service has made an arrest in connection with the threatening and offensive video about Kildonan-East Collegiate that was posted on social media. The police have indicated there is no imminent danger to the school or the public. We want to take this opportunity to thank the Winnipeg Police Service for their prompt response to the situation. We are working with them as they continue to actively investigate the incident and, as a precautionary measure, we are keeping the school in alert mode today. Please be assured that schools in RETSD have safety plans that are ready to be implemented quickly when situations like this arise. I want to commend our staff for the excellent work they are doing to keep our students safe during this difficult time. This video was no doubt upsetting to everyone. We want you to know that the divisions crisis team is at the school to support the victims and any other students who have been distressed by this. Thank you for your patience as we work through this as a school and as a community. Please dont hesitate to call the school if you have questions or concerns.
