Dear Delegates,

Welcome to Walker Model Congresss Eisenhower Cabinet. There are

a few differences between a Special committee and a House or Senate
Committee. Eisenhower Cabinet is a committee set during the eight years of
Dwight D. Eisenhowers presidency. There are two topics that this cabinet
will explore thoroughly, the Cold War and Vietnam, and civil rights. After
these topics have been discussed, the Cabinet will decide how to best advise
the president on his approach to each of the topics. Hopefully we will have a
lot of fun and make some very important decisions while in session, but first
it is important that you know your chairs.
Sarah Grace Lott, a junior, cannot wait to co-chair the Eisenhower
Cabinet with her friend Sonali Dabhi. Prior to this year, Sarah Grace was a
vice-chair for the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee
and in eighth grade participated as a delegate in Walker Model Congress.
Her love for American History, or really any history in general, led her to
her position as a chair. She looks forward to helping with the delegates in
her committee and leading discussion. In her free time, Sarah Grace enjoys
reading, playing viola, telling Sonali to calm down, and eating a variety of
her favorite kinds of macaroni and cheese.
Sonali Dabhi, a junior at Maggie Walker, is super excited to be the cochair for the Eisenhower Cabinet. This will be her third year participating in
Walker Model Congress, last year she was a vice chair for the Lobbyist
Corps and in eighth grade she attended as a delegate. Her interests include
history and biology and she someday wishes to become an ophthalmologist.
Outside of school her hobbies include reading, listening to music, playing
piano and tennis, and talking about how much she loves chocolate pie and
puppies. Sonali looks forward to helping the delegates in her committee
debate this years topics and participate in this year WMC.
Harrison Clark feels really lucky to be a vice chair this year. In
previous years he enjoyed volunteering for Model Congress, but this year he
is excited to be taking a more active role in helping to facilitate a great
experience for all who attend.
While we encourage you to have fun with this experience, it is
important that you prepare by reading the provided background and
possibly by conducting further research. It is also important that you write a
position paper on both topics before the conference and email it to us. Do

not stress too much because the intention was not to be difficult. These
position papers are a way for you to get a better grasp on the topics and
help you remember the political party that you are affiliated with; however
if we find that you plagiarized in anyway you will be disqualified from
receiving any awards at the conclusion of the conference.
If you have any questions regarding your position paper or just about
the committee, you can email us at wmc.eisenhowercabinet@gmail.com. We
cant wait to meet you at the conference and to solve these pressing
problems.
Sincerely,
Sonali Dabhi, Sarah Grace Lott, and Harrison Clark
