Originality
The first bike was made by Baron Karl von Drais in 1817. The first bike or the Laufmaschine (German
for running machine) was made of only wood. The bike had NO pedals. You would have to run along with
it.
There were sketches of a bicycle in Leonardo da Vincis drawings from around 1493. They
surfaced in 1974.

Disciplines of Engineering
In order to build a bike, the one and really only important discipline of
engineering need is mechanical engineering. Things like building the
frame, handle bars, wheels and axles, and other parts for the bike.

Innovation and Evolution: Timeline

1817- Baron Karl von Drais invented the first bike, ever.
1830- KirkPatrick McMillan invented the first pedal bike.
1867- Sylvester Howard Roper invents the first motorcycle. It was powered by coal.
1885- Gottlieb Daimler creates the first gasoline powered motorcycle.
1895- The first electrical bike is patented.
Present- Kawasaki, Yamaha, Harley Davidson, Ducati, BMW, Honda, and more are still brainstorming
and coming up with more and more innovative ideas for motorcycles.

Global Impact on Society and the

Environment

The bicycle wasnt as of much impact when it was first created. It

offered a quick, and easy way to travel from two different locations.
Now in modern day, it provides the same, and also is an alternative to
using motor vehicles that use gasoline, which makes it eco-friendly, and
a good way to exercise. The bicycle helps reduce pollution worldwide.

Our Innovation
If we were to make one innovation to the bike, it would be an innovation
that everyone would love. Interchangeable rims. The ability to switch
rims on and off of your bike with ease.
