Goal: After reading the novel for our FNMI literature circles, you will
work with a partner to create an oral news report to demonstrate
your understanding of the following: the key historical/current issues,
the structure of a news report, the importance of visual
communication and oral communication strategies.
Step 1: Review the important elements of feature articles such as structure, tone and style.
Step 2: In discussion with your teacher select a current FNMI issue.
Step 3: With your partner, find 2 news reporting clips (from different sources) and complete the
comparative charts below.
Step 4: Complete the enclosed feature article brainstorm for your selected topic.
Step 5: Gather supporting visuals.
Step 6: Rehearse your news report.
Step 7: Rehearse your presentation.
Step 8: Present, and submit your package of work including a works cited for all images.
