Social Studies
With Ms. Crosson:
Greetings Shark Team parents!
Cheers to another exciting
quarter in social studies! We are
currently finishing our unit on
religious transitions with the
study of Buddhism. Students had
an exciting time learning about
the different world religions and
conducting research about the
various concepts of each. We
will moving on to our next unit,
Regional Civilizations, where we
will be studying about the
Byzantine Empire, the spread of
Islam, the empires of Africa,
Meso-American civilizations and
Imperial China. Please ask your
learner to share with you the
wonderful information we will be
learning about in the upcoming
unit. Thank you for your support!

and concerns, please contact me

Language Arts
With Ms. Stoughton:
This unit in our Students will
learn how to write a research
paper which contains facts and
opinions, a topic of his/her
choosing, and bias or unbiased
information. Please ask your
student about this project to
make sure he/she is on task. By
the way, my Shark Team

Math with Dr. Murrill:
Thinking Mathematically: This is
Dr. Murrill reporting from the
village of Math Mania. Problem
solving is key in being able to do
all other aspects of mathematics.
We are in Unit 4 (Equations and
Inequalities). Mathematical
expressions and equations can be
used to represent and solve realworld and mathematical
problems. Solving an equation or
inequality is a process of
answering a question, such as
which values from a specific set
make the equation or inequality
true. By the way, everything you
do to help your child helps us and
as always we thank you for all you
do in our support. Reporting live
from Shark Island, News Channel
C-9 Dr. Murrill. For questions,
comments and concerns, or to

newsletter, please contact me at

Science with Mrs. Parker:
In January, we will be doing a
cow eye dissection so I may be
requesting some help in the
classroom that day. Dont forget
that my website has the relevant
textbook chapters in pdf form and
also links and power points that
we have used in the classroom.
My class website
www.takeabiteoutofscience.weeb
ly.com will be your best friend
this year. Check it often for
homework assignments, class
information and pictures and
links for further study.
